Oh, oh, oh. I just heard the news about your beautiful Matata. Goddammit, I'm sorry. (I promise to never fall off the face of the earth again.)
I do love the idea of Matata telling Hakuna that It's Okay to Eat. And I dearly hope that somewhere out there is Feline Afterlife, and Matata's up there, assuming the meatloaf position, conveying with silent menace to various deities: "No, *you* move."

Oh, Elisson, you do have a way with these short stories. The two of ours who are littermates are quite attached to each other, and I can only imagine how one of them would miss the other, were he gone. Wishing all of you comfort.
