Oh, that French Onion Rice looks so good!! I might have to try that.
Heh, it cracks me up when people use margarine when a recipe calls for butter, and then it doesn't work out quite right. Now if it says, "Butter OR margarine," you can substitute. I tend not to use margarine anyhow; butter is all-natural while margarine is far less so. I do like bread & butter (a favorite snack) made with margarine, mainly because butter is too hard to spread and I'm too cheap to buy both salted and unsalted butter. I keep unsalted on hand for baking. I have a recipe I need to email you -- we made it tonight and it was FABOO! See also: Easy!
One caveat -- take all rings off fingers before eating. This puppy is LOADED with sodium from broth/soup. The first time I had it, okay, I did over indulge, but I was the Michelin man the whole next day.
I use butter, even for spreading. I buy less unsalted and stash in the freezer when they have it on sale. I have one of those nifty handy butter keepers on the counter that I faithfully refill with fresh cool water; it keeps the butter just the right spreading temp for the occasional b 'n' b.
Oh, easy and faboo, my kind of recipe. Thought of you tonight -- there is a flank steak in fridge just begging for grilling. Alas, after the day, I am not motivated and the Vampire sleeps...

That's an interesting way to do rice. I've really got to try it. I usually saute chopped onions in butter, add the rice and cook in a rice cooker.
Yum, that sounds good too. I usually microwave rice if I don't make it like this. I have the cutest best microwave rice cooker in the world. Even does yellow rice or brown rice perfectly.
