I have always wondered about this!! Nine minutes, indeed. The part about only having to program it to remember one digit actually makes a tiny bit of sense, until you realize that 10 minutes would be easy for it to remember -- don't ring again till that number appears once more. Seems like less programming than "don't ring again till that number less one." Hmmm.

I'm one of those freaks that must show work. The few times that I didn't, I'd get epically confused. True story. (Yet I'm the one with the computer science degree -- go figger.)

That's interesting how you calculate the snooze math, Elle. I always add ten and then take one away.

I assumed it had something to do with the way they price things ending with a 9. Like it's always $9.99 instead of $10.

I do recall hearing that psychologically people think $9.99 seems much less than $10 even though it's just a penny.

I don't know where I'm going with this, so I'll just stop now.
