Gravatar Mmm fried turkey! But yeah, I wish more people would do it in something other than peanut oil because we can't eat it. It's been SO LONG since I had it because of that.

I loooooooooooove homemade stuffing. My biological mother makes some excellent stuffing, but alas, I never did get the recipe from her. Maybe I can con my sister into asking her... hahahaha.

Yes, Blue, you were the one (and Grace) I thought of when I wrote that -- really, you can use any high-smoking oil to fry in, I even know some that use bacon fat or lard (!!)

My mom has already started the oyster dressing making process. i talked to her this morning and she's had my dad peeling onions to chop, and she's planning to put the whole conglomeration together sans oysters and freeze it -- that way, T'day, all she has to do is incorporate oysters and liquor and adjust seasonings and bake.

Gravatar In all the years i lived in the states i have never had a fried turkey. Everyone raves about it being so tastier than traditional roasted turkey.

It really is, and quicker too! The downside is a) you need the outdoor frying setup, and b) you don't generate juices to make gravy.

Gravatar Fried turkey is yummy when done right. I love hearing about your "family" thanksgiving. So nice.

This will be our first Thanksgiving without my mom's mother. We will miss her.

Gravatar I do miss my grandmother, especially during the holidays. I enjoy my Thanksgiving now, but it's definitely not the same as when I was a kid when I was surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.

Yes, we'll miss Grandma this Turkey Day.

Gravatar I always wanted to try a deep fryer for turkey. We don't have one though. I heard they come out great and in a lot less time.

Yes, that's the story. There is no gravy, however, and no way to stuff stuffing!

Gravatar I forgot about the people. You're right! I remember being surrounded by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Now, grandparents and also my parents are gone. We have a whole new generation starting up, though, with a grandbaby and another one on the way. That's such a blessing for us!

Ha! The blessing isn't the dressing, it's the family. Amen!

Gravatar I've never had deep fried turkey but I'm told it's excellent. An old client from Louisiana used to tell me how they injected stuff under the skin for flavor too.

It is amazing ho good it is...

Gravatar I've never had fried turkey, but everyone raves about it. I need a little more convincing. Haha.

Corrin, it is amazing - moist, yet, flavorful, crispy and hey, anything deep fried in gallons of peanut oil has my vote for decadent.
