Thank you Olga! (this, perhaps, the first time I've been recorded talking to a bra...)

That station wagons roof must be exceptinally strong!
It was a 1969 Buick SportWagon, with optional luggage rack. It was something! I did kill it by lack of oil my freshman year in college, though.

Me likee your doodles ....... shouldn't you be working though? ........ tee hee
Ohhhh, work... nahhhh I do enough work. Besides, if the phone doesn't ring off the hook sometimes, the clients get some idea about us not being busy, or EXPECT us to be there for them. They need voice mail practice every so often.

I don't know what I initially thought your mother's hat was. But it didn't strike me as a hat until:
A. you explained it, and
B. I accidentally clicked on the doodle itself revealing the artwork in all its glory!
Why did I not think to click on each doolde? Love the extreme close up! Well done Elle!
Thanks, CG! What I probably need to explain is that over my mom's left shoulder, which did not translate well when retracing with sharpie, is my brother, head turned allllll the way around and waving out of the back of the car. I somehow lost the hand attached to shoulder and striped shirt in my haste to get it rendered. I also notice my quickie erase job of pencil lines did not do all it could have. Oh well, that's why it's a doodle, not a comic or actual art!

I love this doodle!! It might be my favorite one yet. We didn't take many of these crazy trips when I was a kid; my dad only wanted to go places where we could stay with someone instead of renting a hotel room. Really, the only places we went were a week to Lake Michigan for many years with the ENTIRE family, and then we took a break from vacations for a couple of a years. After that we went to FL two years in a row -- once to see my sister graduate boot camp, and once to see her married. And then that was it. Heh.
Well, every summer we went somewhere-- the trip that started it all was the trek by station wagon the year I was eight to New York to visit my grandparents. We also went to Florida, then Callaway Gardens, GA for a big string of summers in a row. Callaway was the reason that I to this day have yet to go to Disney. Every year, the question would be asked, and every year we wanted to go back. It was awesome cool. And required the packing of everything not bolted down in the house before we got in the car.
