Thanks for the wonderful suggestions, Elena. I was wondering what to read for Lent, and now I think I will read Fr Lovasik's wonderful book on kindness again. It is something that can be read over and over again; and I always get something more out of it.

I like some of your suggestions about Lent and I have some similar, but not identical, things on my list. I'm fascinated by the Lenten Calendar--do you know where your Mom found it?

I like your imagery of marinating during Lent. It reminds me of an Anne Lamott quote: "If you can't cooperate with grace, at least patronize it. Let it come in and mill around you."
