Gravatar The main problem for the IAF is the BVR capability of the JF-17,theres no denying that but would the CAS lose too much sleep if PAF started inducting Bisons from tomorrow?I somehow dont think so.However the problems that IAF should worry about more are Amraam C5 equipped F-16s and J-10s(if Pakistan gets it).In all ways the J-10 is better then the JF-17.And the news from Chinese circles is that China developed JF-17 so that the J-10 tech doesnt fall into other hands very often.
And with the 80 km(max) R-77 getting long in the tooth, and the Astra nowhere in sight, the IAF would be troubled to face planes equipped with Amraam C5s.Its high time IAF looked for new BVR missile options.

Gravatar It is not always about the missile. Robert McNamara and his bunch of advisors espoused this "put the performance into the missile, not the airplane" line of thinking. Had Connelly and other Admirals not blown their collective fuses, the Tomcat wouldn't have seen the light of day. Instead, we would have had F-111Bs (called a "dog of an airplane") doing their job. That is not to say that the IAF does not need better missiles, it does. But we need better aircraft first - and fast!

Gravatar The LCA is not even operational, so dont even compare it with the JF-17. Its also laughable comparing the JF-17 fighter bombers with a trainer aircraft.

This airplane is close to F-16 capabilities, the PAF would accept nothing else.

Gravatar And the JF-17 is operational?

Gravatar JF-17 is entering service with PAF next year. LCA is a long long way off. No comparison between the two.

Gravatar Really? Its avionics fit and weaponry haven't yet been finalised (leave alone tested)...

Gravatar That is an issue of final selection and testing. All is on track to induct JF-17 next year. Rest assured LCA will still be stuck in the lab.

Gravatar Uhhh.. yeah, sure. Meanwhile, radarless and engineless JF-17s will be launched off catapults into India for suicide attacks :D

Gravatar You guys are funny.

Sound like little boys with their toys...

Gravatar Its just funny, someone is trying to compare Teja with JF 17

Gravatar DRDO is notorious for failing schedule and not meeting standard. There is no point mocking Pakistani/Chinees, unless we reach the full potential of Tejas in schedule time.
Kaveri Engine is yet to reach its goal (Wt: 950 Kg with Thrust more than 20000lbs). You can make specification. How are you sticking to schedule and making the product up to the specification, that matters.
JF-17 is Mig21 Bis. IAF should not get scared of JF-17. It should get scared of DRDO,NAL,HAL for not delivering Tejas without cost and schedule overrun.

Gravatar pakistan already start production of jf17 from jan.2008, and will have a sq. in end of this year, both china and pakistan are progress to make next block of jf17 with more composit meterials, power full electronics, may an AESA radar, and modification in wings and fuslage to make jf17 more stealth

Gravatar shiv- full of shit, Your lca will never fly- u just jealous of pakistan achievement. jf- 17 is superior to f- 16

Gravatar u r from the most fucking country and how do u dare to the aircraft is not good.we know u r jealous but mind ur dammn languag.the most bad and coward and untrained airforce is ur so dun b jealous.n dun write this type of articl again in ur newss paper. i am khawar from pakistan.

Gravatar mihir coment on my saying i ll b waiting 4 ur jealousy answery ans n also tell me wht goes in ur ass if pakistan has manufactured jf17 ok ok i forget 1 think dat u r scared of it and u should of it bcoz it is better than f16 and u cant accet it and once again dun be jealous

Gravatar hi mihir i was shocked to read ur jealousy article jf 17 is not good according to you but for india only our f86 sabers much.you very well know what kind of piolots u have they even dun know to fly and the world best pilots is of pakistan
and dun forget what our piolots have done with u in 1965 war and u said it is engine less then it fly with ur mothers back thrust mihir u r mad i am saad frm lahore

Gravatar I know understandably pakis got emotional over JF-17. I dun know much about paki weapons systems but Indian Airforce Pilots are second best in the world(first is Israeli Air force pilots). And only Airforce with comparable good training in Asia is supposedly Malaysia.(I am not sure). You ppl may be pointing towards Mig-21 crashes as the proof..that's pathetic..
Anyway the pertinence of human component in air combat is fast receding and dogfight skillsets are today atbest a worse case scenario.
Even if we assume that IAF pilots are not that good..TVC-enabled and longe-range radar will finish you off before giving u a fair chance..its for nothing that PAF stood as spectators in Kargil when Northern Light Infantry were slaughtered by IAF-IA combo ..
I hope you will get a live demonstration of their skills from MKIs, sometimes soon. Good Luck

Gravatar I agree with the author. LCA is light years to become a reality.

Gravatar There are 9 countries in serial to buy this product.
Pakistan will become rich selling this war-bird.
And when they will have money, they will develop this product more cutting edge.

Indian progress is not that much like Pakistan, India has not achieved quality fighter of 4th generation for their home made versions.

Gravatar "As Siva, a contributor on Bharat Rakshak points out"

Is it Siva or Shiv? Never seen Siva there.

Gravatar First JF-17 squadron to be operational next year Inshallah! Will be replacing the A-5's. Meanwhile POS Tejas is still stuck in the laboratory, as I had predicted.

Gravatar Come on guys, the JF-17 Thunder rocks. It is simply the best, but again, simple words knocking it down, are just that words. Words don't have much value, actions do. (not to mention pilot skill)....

Gravatar listen my friend there is no point of boasting about iaf because the whole world knows it. india is far tooo good at bullshitting thats why they have the biggest film industry. lets not forget if put in context with defence india lacks the experience and courage/morale compared to pakistan. pakistan has just been born 6o+ years ago and still has the capacity to learn and induct more strategies. pakistan is a military country india is a bollywood indusstry so my friend comparison is off the charts. ash from pak/uk PAKISTAN PAINDABAD

Gravatar "pakistan is a military country "

And that is supposed to be good? In which world?

Gravatar Only time will tell dear. No doubt India is havin a ball right now with most of the assistance in technology from the international world. This is then not so bad if Pakistan has also a friend and strategic partner. Being optimistic and on the basis of historical facts, India still has to to prove it self even having a variety of fighter aircrafts. Who is best TEJA or JF 17 Time will tell.

Gravatar Who is best TEJAS or JF 17 Time will tell.- Rizwan

Those words will haunt you in the future Rizwan, as the old saying goes "He who laughs last laughs the longest"

Gravatar JF-17 Thunder is a Romanian project http://www.incas.ro/english/depa...% 20Projects.htm
