No doubt, the information is well compiled. It remains to be seen whther India do acquire the MIG 31s or not.
Interesting read. Do you happen to know the combat record of the Mig-25? I haven't heard much about them in conflict.
1982: In the battle of the Bekaa Valley, Israeli F-15s fought Syrian MiG-25s and other fighters. In this battle, the Isrelis lost an F-15 and the Syrians a MiG-25
1991: In the Gulf War, a Foxbat shot down an F-18 - Iraq's only air to air kill in the conflict. The same aeroplane then fired a missile at an A-6, all this while avoiding an escort of F-15s and F-16s. One source quotes, "A single Iraqi Foxbat-E eluded eight sweeping F-15s then tangled with two EF-111As, firing three missiles at the Ravens and chasing them off station. Unfortunately, the Ravens were supporting an F-15E strike, and the EF-111's retreat led to the loss of one of the Strike Eagles to a SAM. Oh BTW, the Foxbat easily avoided interception and returned safely to base."
Two Foxbats also fired missiles at two F-15s (who managed to evade them), and then outran them, plus four Sparrow missiles and two Sidewinder missiles. Four more sparrows were fired by two Eagles who tried to cut them off; these were evaded too.
They fired thirteen missiles at the Foxbat that day in the first Gulf War. None hit.
