Gravatar I completely agree with you,Mihir. Using a gun is not a kid's play. It requires strong stubborn mind with firm grip and accurate shot.

While talking about relaxing gunlaws we are just thinking about the terrorist attacks that happened. But, while thinking of facing the terrorists we forget the riots, the murders and all those cruel killings that take place in our day to day life.

Terrorists attack happen once and kill in mass but has anyone ever counted the number of people that die in rivalries and petty quarrels.
Now think what would happen if gun laws are relaxed?

Thank you Mihir for putting your point of view. I think people need to think more rationally and practically than emotionally.

Gravatar Heh, I took apart an american who posted something on the same lines at PPRuNe. Great minds think alike

Gravatar To add something - gun proliferation works best in Switzerland. Reason? Compulsory army training. Everyone knows how to handle a gun at any point. I've heard that after you're done you get to TAKE YOUR SIDEARM HOME! Which mean each house has at least one gun and one person trained to use it. Why would there be any problems there!

And compare that to what would happen if *our* populace was armed...

Gravatar It would be a nightmare! Imagine someone shooting his doodhwalla for mixing water in his milk! :-o

BTW, even with their military training, I don't think Swiss citizens could have thwarted a terrorist attack. You need teamwork to do that, with every individual having a clear idea of what to do. This would be lacking.

Gravatar Hey, your so right. My dad (ex-Navy) has the SAME opinion. He had to give up his licensed 9mm when he retired and had offers of almost triple the price he gave it for, from non licensed civilians.

But, true to defence-principles style, he gave it away almost at a pittance to a serving officer.
