I didn't know Thapar had messed with Sam Bahadur. That's like a rabbit biting a T-Rex - hillarious and sad at the same time.
The mediawallas are welcome to sleep with Ayub - we worship Sam Bahadur.
Besides, I was in his battalion at IMA

Unfortunately, the T-Rex is struggling for his life in a hospital in Chennai, and can do nothing to defend himself

Does he really need defending? Especially by himself? C'mon. He's Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw.
A man who was awarded a Military Cross on the battle front itself needs no defending from cretins with personal grudges.
The man is a legend.

Well, he is a legend... but then the media-wallahs are quite smart. I hope Thapar bit off more than he could chew this time around...

Mihir,
I wonder why this story didn't get too much airplay in the media.
Sons of two losers get together, and play hokey with history.

I guess the DDM ain't that dorky after all... And like Shaunak said, "A man who was awarded a Military Cross on the battle front itself needs no defending from cretins with personal grudges." Perhaps the rest of them understand that...

DDMs are like paki. planes...good for nothing!...our "SAM" need not fire his S.A.M s (for which he is quite famous!)--DDMs will fall off the sky wen the fuel burns out!
he's our hero!

Hi
There is going to be a Blogcamp in India on 16th of June. Around 250 bloggers will be taking part in the event.
This is what they say on their blog: "The way unconferences work is that, you don't have an agenda, rather we will put up a white board, where participants will themselves add the topics they are interested to speak upon. Depending upon the number of speakers we will go for multiple threads. There will be some intense discussions, we will have a lot of fun and yes there will be blogging, video blogging, photo blogging, podcasting ... everything under the blogger sun."
The registrations have started. We are planning to have 250 participants from all over the country. There are some people taking part virtually, using youtube, slideshare, skype etc. if you are interested please add your name to the wiki.

Don't make such serious accusations on the basis of a solitary angry and biased article! If you would do further research you would find ample proof of Gen P N Thapar's innocence in the whole matter. He was actually a victim of dirty politics and was made quite a scapegoat by Nehru and Krishna Menon! How can you malign an innocent dead man, just because you are upset over something his son did? Is it really fair? If you have any sense of decency, please delete this malicious post as soon as possible!

This is in response to Karan Thapar's never ending gushing praise of Pakistan and its politicians, the latest being his comparison of Musharaff to Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh etc. The reason that Mush faced a hostile Indian audience was because as he told everyone in private that the had been paid $200,000 to perform at the Conclave, not for the exalted reasons Thapar enumerated. How would Kargil widows feel that the man who was responsible for thousands of Indian young men dying is being praised by a General's son. The late General Thapar probably wants to come back and spank his son for consorting with the enemy. Instead of praising the Pakistani politicians, Thapar should answer: Would a Pakistani newspaper allow a journalist as much column space repeatedly praising India and trashing Pakistan? He would at least get ten oil dipped lashes on a bare back or arrested on trumped up charges. Thapar is abusing HT's benevelonce. Replace him with someone younger who is more in tunes with the times and with India. This man is in bed with Pakistan. He is degrading the newspaper. Replace him with some writer who connects with us not them. Even a young Pakistani writer would be a good replacement who can present their point of view. Throw this traitor as far as you can throw him, which is not far enough. He could be a good journalist. Right now he looks like a donkey in Swat.

Hi Mihir,
A little belated. But nonetheless quite poignant. My post that is. In reply to Karan Thapar's post as Anonymous on 06.29.07 at 5:27 am(who else would it be?), your reply had me cracking up and ROFLing in an instant. You wrote:
"If you haven't realised it yet, all I am showing here is that PROPAGANDU can work both ways."
Ahahahahaha!I think you've inadvertently devised a worthy nickname for our midget friend-Mr. Karan Thapar! He too does work both ways. And therefore is a perfect match for this nickname.
I know this might sound like making much of what was only a typo, but I couldn't resist imagining the scenario of the studio camera panning onto Mr. Thapar's face during one of his interviews and then he, in typical manner, with a clenched jaw and a subtle smirk proceeds to introduce himself as follows: "Hello and welcome to the Devil's Advocate. I am Propagandu Thapar and..."
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
