Dude, whats on yer mind?

What?? After the weekend tease, no update of what wild and crazy stuff you got up to?

The blanket is beautiful. Good job!

Drew: Thanks Jen, it was worth the effort to get those pineapples right!

Oh, all I can really say about Friday night is that there were tiki torches and hobbits involved.

Gravatar Much jealousness from Michigan on getting two things done, and something else 2/3 done. I brought my knitting "up north" this weekend, then FORGOT THE PATTERN. It's official: I'm a fool.

I'm agreeing with Jen, though, what did (or didn't) you do so new?

Drew: So sorry you forgot your pattern. I bet you found other things to keep your hands busy though...

Gravatar That blanket is gorgeous! It looks like an heirloom.

Drew: Thanks Amy!!

Gravatar Drew! Love the blanket. Thanks so much for listing the pattern number and booklet.

Drew: Hi Ellen, Thanks!! It's worth the effort to find these patterns. There are six in total in the booklet and they are all amazing!

ps: it was fun chatting on the phone the other night! Sounds like CAP really throws a good parTAY!

Gravatar That is some beautiful work. Looks like crocheting is more lace-like looking isn't it? Knitting is more garment looking. What do I know... I'm just a novice crafster.

I wish I could craft for a living like you do! So much fun to spend all day crocheting/spinning/gardening/knitting/ cooking,...etc.

Drew: Thanks Kenny! Knitting and crocheting are totally different beasts, but cool in their own ways. I love them both!!

Gravatar Drew, dude,
That is amazing, it really is a work of art. It really is too nice for a baby, and certainly too exquisite for little barfing bundles of joy. It is truly heirloom quality. Really.
dave D

Drew: Dave dude, thanks! The lady is paying good money so if her little bundle of "joy" wants to blow chunks, more power to her! LOL - in fact, maybe she'll order a replacement blanket!

Gravatar That's gorgeous!! What a great job, and so quickly! I'm totally jealous of your talent!

Drew: Thanks Megan. My secret is practice practice then practice some more!

Gravatar WOW!!!
That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen (besides my son---)

Drew: Thanks so much Cheryl!!

Gravatar Drew

that truly turned out nice and inspired me to buy a book of baby afghans.. i bought "The Best Of Terry Kimbrough Baby Afghans" .. I cant wait to get it and start creating heirlooms for all my friends' babies!

great job!

Drew: Thanks Elizabeth! I can't wait to see the ones you make too!!

Gravatar Wow Drew, you really nailed those pineapples! The blanket is beautiful.

Drew: Thanks Sedie! It was worth every row I frogged!

Gravatar Beautiful Drew, absolutely beautiful!

Drew: Hi Julie! Thanks, I'm so glad that you like it!

Gravatar That blanket is truly lovely - exquisite is the perfect name for that pattern.

Tiki torches & hobbits!?!?! Now that sounds like fun!

Hiya Colette! Thanks!!

The hobbits are great, but if you over cook them they get tough.

Gravatar awesome job!!!

Drew: Thanks Marcia!!

Gravatar That blanket is splendid.

Drew: Hi Angel, thanks!!

Gravatar I have that pattern book and have wanted to make this blanket for years! Yours is so inspiring that I'm going to have to make it as that is just outstanding!

Drew: Hi Lori! I'm so glad you are inspired! Woo hOO!! I can't wait to see photos!

Gravatar Wow.. that is incredibly beautiful... what skill level would you say that pattern is? Love it!

Drew: Thanks Heidi!! I would say this one is challenging. There is a lot of counting in the pineapple edge. That being said, I feel anyone can do challenging patterns if they aren't distracted and they focus, maybe write out each repeat or draw diagrams to help them understand the pattern. Oh, and you have to be happy to frog until it's correct!!!

Gravatar I just won this pattern leaflet off of ebay after reading about it here. I am due in 6 weeks with a girl and I hope I have time to make one for the baby! I made a small Skipping Stones one but I'd love to have a fancier one as well. Thanks for the inspiration!

Drew: Congrats Babe! I'm sure you could get one of these ghans finished by then. I would love to see photos!!

Gravatar Tiki torches and hobbits? A Lord of the Rings Halloween party in Hawaii? LOL

The blanket is gorgeous, Drew, as your work always is. I did manage to pick up that booklet after seeing the last gorgeous ghan you made from the patterns I just haven't had a moment to pick it up yet.

The recipient will be so thrilled with that beauty!

Drew: Thanks Ro!! Go for it, it's worth the effort!!

xoxo
Ro

Gravatar Hi Drew:

I am amazed with your talent. I hope my three sons can crochet like you do.
That is definitely a heirloom. I love pineapples and will make this one if I find that booklet.

Amy Sanson from Fresno.

Drew: Hi Amy, thanks for the kudos. I'm so happy to hear your sons are crocheting too!

Gravatar Absolutely beautiful!!!

Drew: Thanks Jenny!!

Gravatar Drew, that is beautiful. I love Terry's designs, too.

Drew: Hi Karen! Thanks, I'm glad you like the ghan. Isn't Terry amazing?

Gravatar Love the baby afghan! I've been crocheting all my life but have never tried filet. Now I'm afraid my eyes aren't good enough. Great work!

Drew: Hi Hookermama! My brother made a filet bedspread once and it was amazing! Maybe you could try doing filet with chunkier yarn?

Gravatar Absolutely stunning!! Pineappples are my fave thing to crochet, and I really think they bring this blonket together. I must find this pattern for myself!!

Drew: Hiya Kheb!! Thanks! Someone said they found it on eBay. Good luck! It's worth every penny.

Gravatar Oh wow. I am humbled. That is GORGEOUS.

Gravatar Really beautiful. That is one lucky baby!

Gravatar Lovely blankie!! Well done!

Drew: Thanks Roxanne!

Gravatar Oh Drew! Your baby afghan is breathtaking! I LOVE IT! Great job!!

Drew: Thanks so much Mel! I'm glad you like it!!

Gravatar Absolutly stunning! Great job! I need to get that book! Thank you for sharing. You do great work!

Drew: Thanks Heather!

Gravatar Beautiful blanket!!! What's the finished size?

a p.s on the baby alpaca.....yeah, that's some soft stuff!! I got some at Little Knits online, and I love it!!

Gravatar Gorgeous! My nana was very fond of the pineapple pattern. I've got bedspreads, doilies, table linens with that pattern galore. Love it.

Gravatar Congratulations on the baby blanket! I was looking at it and thinking "Hey, I love pineapples, do I know that pattern?" and sure enough, it's the Exquisite that I've made maybe ten times in the past few years. Yours is gorgeous!!! I need to try alpaca. Pineapples are totally unforgiving -- if you get the number of stitches wrong in the base, there's no way to fake a fix later; it's just rip, rip, rip. But what I found most difficult about this pattern (and all the others in the book, come to think of it) is the instruction when starting the edging to "sc 168, evenly spaced," with no help on HOW to get it evenly spaced. I end up using arithmetic skills that I barely had 15 years ago and lots of markers and lots more ripping out. It took as long to do the first foundation row of edging as to do several rows of the main pattern. Sorry to go on for so long but I've never had anyone to talk about this pattern with. Hope all's good. Love your stuff.

Gravatar How long did it take you to complete this blanket (hours, not days)? It's beautiful! And, how thick is the yarn/thread?
Thanks!
