You used to be within walking distance of a yarn store that big? I would die! Actually, my husband would kill me!
You have so much self restraint.

You've made me realise how lucky I am, that (a) We don't have yarn store sales here and (b) We don't have yarn stores here

that yarn sale sounds 'to die for!' Even a mile is walking distance - except maybe in the Houston heat!
My LYS is a 45 minute drive. Actually, there are two at about that distance. All others are farther away. This is probably a very good thing!
Of course, the internet lives in my room, so my stash hoarding is in no way adversely affected by the distance of the yarn shops!

I sadly know the temptation of having not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE LYS within walking distance. Boston is indeed a blessing and a curse...and we won't get started on WEBS being a few short hours away.
