dude...you've got issues...

surphing isn't a dude... but that doesn't mean she doesn't have issues

ummm.... im not sure why your bashing other christians, its scary to see this. i just dont understand christians bashing other christians. ex:
"Here's the verse plastered next to this pathetic view of God and man"
for whatever reson right or wrong, this mans view is awsome to him, its inspiring him, its motivating him, he's found a great life bringing vision of God, but your view is diferent, so instead of trying to understand or acknowlaging your brother and his honest spiritual views you perplex yourself by wondering why he and others arent following your God, but to me He is so much bigger than any one persons point of view, so much bigger, and divers. i love your view points on faith, and i love mike mclaughlin ideas, but to deny either of you i feel would be a loss.

Maybe you should compare Rom 8.3 to this.

(Sorry no accents or breathing marks, you will have to go to the Greek Bible for that. UBS publishes the standard eclectic text.)

Remember what idoims are. The Message tries to capture the message of the writings and not the literal words. Hence the name. It has a place in the Christian world. Not in scholarly publications though.

I was not the biggest fan of Eugene Peterson until I read The Contemplative Pastor. Great book. The introduction to The Message is a good read as well.

I would comment about God’s Sovereignty, but I expect that it would be ignored as it has been by two out of the three members here.

For those interested I have publish about whether “God can change his mind?” at my own blog.

The Bible is unique, inspired by the Holy Spirit and written without error in the original manuscripts. It is the final authority in all matters on which it speaks -
This we agree on right

1. Foster and Willard aren't liberal, and I don't know if either of them would consider themselves as part of the emerging church either. Please be accurate.

2. Emergent is not synonymous with the emerging church. Emergent is an organization; always has been. The emerging church covers a much larger spectrum. Again, please be accurate; I know this has been brought to EmergentNO's attention many times, so there's not excuse for the continued misinformation.

3. If a sure sign of being "emergent" (I'll assume you really meant emerging church) means that you're concerned about social justice, then God is emergent, because God is concerned with social justice as well. Try looking up "justice" or "poor" or "oppressed" in your Bible's concordance and see just how many times God mentions it in both New and Old Testaments.

If you don't like what these men are suggesting, what positive alternative(s) do you suggest for those who take God's Word seriously, including the parts about social justice?

thats a good point robbymac, i too use bolth words interchangably

My name is Mike McLoughlin. I spell McLoughlin with an "o". You have confused me with another fellow whose name is Michael McLaughlin who spells his name with an "a". He is the lecturer who speaks at workshops on Bernard Lonergan. I have no relationship with this person and I have never spoken at a Lonergan workshops.

I think that this site owes Mike with an O - an apology and a retraction. It is about being accountable for our words and admitting when we screw up. So let see it. Then maybe this site will show its class rather than being bush league - (though I am not holding my breath).

Yes I do appologize for that mistake Mike. I made the due corrects and removed the speaker at Boston College who I thought was you. My apologies for that. The rest is just links to your site.
