They're doing the same here too. Infact, they're pushing for women on the front line, and those men who are overweight and asthmatic are also being accepted......insane!
Although I agree with you about the background check. I recall distinctly some kids I knew from highschool who were offered army or jail terms. A couple really turned themselves around after enlisting. I know that is no longer an option but what a difference.
It all depends on how desperate the recruiter is. If they need the numbers bad enough, they can get virtually anyone in...especially in a "grunt" capacity that requires virtually no security clearance.
