Wow! It takes my breath away. The dress is stunning and looks fabulous on you. I sure hope I look half as good as you do when I get mine done!

Gravatar Okay....I was trying not to ask.....but CAN YOU MAKE ME ONE???? Girl you are extremely talented. I need to find you for a fitting and hire you to make my clothes.

Gravatar (takes a bow) Thank you, Thank you!

Gravatar Kudos! This dress is terrific and you look amazing in it! Fab, fab, fab!

Gravatar Erica, be sure to send to this to our other friend whose first name, like yours, starts with an E: Erin at dressaday.com. I first saw the Ronald Mouret dress at her blog. I'm sure Erin can appreciate all your hard work on this dress!

Gravatar Thanks a lot. I still have to go grab that Lucky Mag to see that dress. I'll drop Erin an email.

Gravatar Simply fabulous! Excellent work, you look beautiful in it to boot.

Gravatar Wow! This dress is amazing. I am impressed with the quality of your work. I sewed for the first time in years this weekend (just a little bag to hold knitting projects) because of all the great inspiration I see on your blog. It turned out well...maybe in a few years I can make an amazing dress too!

Gravatar Another fabulous dress. I love it in the black.

Gravatar Old Hollywood glamour: the neckline and the cap puff sleeves = FABULOUS!

Gravatar oh erica, your homesewn dress looks like a million bucks! ... and the fit is perfect! lovely!

Gravatar Lovely and elegant!

Gravatar Love that dress! You look fabulous. I can't wait to see what you turn out next.

Gravatar Wow!! You look incredible in that fabulous dress. Iam a novice sewer and you are an inspiration to me.

Gravatar i love it in black, too. do you know what you're sewing next?

Gravatar wow! you did a fabulous job! it looks store bought, no kidding... except it fits you better

your closet must be bursting at the seams with all the sewing you've done this summer! what a great way to boost up your wardrobe.

Gravatar Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Job!

That is a fantastic fit, you are so talented. I'll be there one day. Are you going to add the little "belt" that some of the other ladies are sporting? To be honest, I like it better without it. Great job!

Gravatar Wow! That is a beautiful dress and fits you so well. Can't wait for your next creation. Wonderful job!

Gravatar Another fab dress! Makes me wanna go home and whip out my machine. The dress is beyoootiful!

Gravatar Wow, you look great, that is one nice dress and worth all the frustration. Congratulations, it's great. Love your writing style in your blog.

Gravatar You look absolutely stunning! Great job!

Gravatar Absolutely gorgeous!! And I will be printing off your comments and keeping them with my pattern when it comes time for me to make this hot puppy!

Gravatar Yes, it took my breath away too! A STUNNING DRESS and it fits perfectly!

Hug yourself, well done.

Gravatar OMG. Amazing as always. And those shoes!!!

Gravatar Holy guacamole! That looks fantastic! Truly an amazing job well done on that masterpiece!

Gravatar How chic!!! And look at those shoes! Gorgeous!

Gravatar Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Wow! You look wonderful. I'm inspired to work on my projects, but I don't think it will turn out so great!

Gravatar GIRL YOU LOOK FIERCE!!!! From head to toe...FAB! That's totally my style. You have an amazing talent.

Gravatar Erica,

The dress looks great on you and you did a wonderful job making it. As usual, you have the magic touch.

Wendyb532

Gravatar My goodness, it's faaaaabulous! I'm so glad you made this first, I'm totally referring to you when I make my version.

Well done!

Gravatar The dress and you look fantastic!

Gravatar VaVaVOOM! You are gorgeous in that new creation! Wow!

I enjoyed the process you went through too (and detailed for us) on how you picked and ultimately arrived at YOUR distinctive take on this look...

Can't wait to see what you make next!

Gravatar Absolutely amazing! You look great and the dress is simply fabulous!

Gravatar Thanks so much to you all for the kind comments!

Gravatar Yay! Finally I get to see another finished vogue 8280. I've GOT to get pictures up of mine and post a review. This dress makes me feel like Marilyn Monroe. I just haven't had any occasion to wear it yet. Last night I saw an ad for L'Oreal Inferia hair color and I think the model was wearing a Galaxy dress but, to be honest, it coulda been a knock-off. The sleeves looked too small. Anyway, yours looks great. Kudos!

Gravatar Erica, THAT DRESS IS JUST DAMN BEAUTIFUL ON YOU! FABULOUS!

Gravatar The dress (and the dress on you) are gorgeous!

I have to say you and your blog have completely inspired me to stop being lazy with the same A-line skirt pattern (about 15 of them now, yeah) and to go with something more fitted and (gulp) tailored--after all, I haven't been sewing for 20+ years for nothing! So thanks, Erica!

Gravatar You are SMOKIN in that dress! Fantastic work!

Gravatar cameron's got nothing on you. another winner!

Gravatar wow wow wow! I'm speechless..your dress turned out awesome girl.

Gravatar Virtuoso job--everything looks absolutely perfect. It's gorgeous on you.

Gravatar You're such a dahling diva. You look great!

Gravatar Hot, Hot, Hot!!!! You look FABULOUS!!! I love it.

Gravatar Simply perfect.

Gravatar Wow, Erica, you look fabulous in this dress. You always look good! You did an excellent job. Thanks for sharing this with all of us!

Gravatar fab, fab, fab. you look ready for teh red carpet. those divas have nothing on you.

Gravatar I commented on PatternReview, but let me just say here, this dress (and you!) is simply faboo!

Gravatar Hey Erica,

How did you pick your sizing on this one? My measurements are a Vogue 12, but I normally go down to 8 because I like a closer fit. TwistedOne said to cut to you true measurments on this though (ie, a 12 for me). What did you do?

Thanks,

Carolnie

Gravatar Hi Caroline,
I cut my normal size in the bodice and went up a size in the skirt because I didn't want it to be too tight since it is a straight skirt. I'm larger on the bottom so this is always an issue for me even when I shop retail. I always have to get dresses altered.

Gravatar Thanks for answer! I will probably fool around with a muslin for a bit with this one. I have to say I really didn't love Vogue's interpretation of this dress - it fits oddly on the model, and it didn't seem that special. I'm so impressed that you and TwistedOne saw the potential here. Your version is just 'alive,' for want of a better word, or 'kicky' as my fashionable grandmother would have said.

Have you worn it out yet?

Gravatar No, I haven't worn it yet... still too warm to step out in a "wool" dress. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, the temp will drop low enough.

Gravatar Hi, again... well, you most certainly could be a 1940s starlet with this dress. Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday ~ what a beauty you are! And I am STILL admiring your talent. I can't believe it's taken me months to finish ONE project for myself.... one! And I'm still not done with the dress. Do you have a dressform?

Gravatar Nice Erica.

That black really brings the drama.

Gravatar Girl you have it going on...you are beautiful and you do beautiful work so keep on thumbing your nose at all those expensive price tags and keep your butt in front of that machine...Conngrats...the fit on the pants is awesome...keep up the good work...RJM

Gravatar Simply stunning!
