That dress is the bomb and I will be making that one too. Can't wait to find the perfect fabric for that. I will have to show this entry to my mom. She cut her fabric out Friday!! I will make sure I get a pic of her in her suit to show you! That jacket is going to be nice. Still not ready to try the jeans yet but I do want some denim wide leg guachos...hmmmm lol

I picked up a copy of Lucky the other day and noticed the same thing. I'm on the hunt for the perfect fabric also as I want one in my fall wardrobe also!

I hate that I can't whip out my sewing machine (not enough space)! Thanks for the heads up on 7975. I'm sure I could use that pattern to crochet up a nice jacket.

That McCalls dress is so hot. I love a lot of their new fall patterns. If I weren't so afraid of sewing plaid, I would be all over it.

I was thumbing through my copy of Lucky last night and wondered when "the dress" would make it onto your site!
Every fall I add Vogue 7975 to my sewing list. I have yet to get to it but have higher hopes to make it this year since I will be making more suits for fall.
Have you decided which version of the Simplicity dress you will be making? Love the fabric for the pattern!

I much prefer the look of that dress cut on the bias. I didn't notice that at first. I know you will make that dress, and the other items you have chosen, just rock and be totally stylin'.
Love your blog.

You *really* have an eye for these things. I've just started a folder of styles from magazines. Hopefully some of your tricks for remembering will rub off on me.

I can't wait to see the Chanel project come along! FYI, Threads issues 121 and 128 each featured articles on Chanel techniques that may be helpful.

The silk tweed is lovely for your Chanel style jacket, and IMO that is The definitive pattern to use. What method will you be using for construction? (do you need copies of the threads articles?)
Turning that plaid on the bias made all the difference in the world! Great dress.
Really pretty fabric from Hancock's too.

Thanks Marji! You know I have OF COURSE bookmarked your construction from your Flickr acct... yours is absolutely the best one I've seen. I found the Threads #121 on eBay and bought it. Also, I'm using "Channelisms" chapter in Shaeffer's "Couture Techniques".

Hey Erica, could you explain "cutting on the bias?" Thanks!

Adeea,
You turn the fabric to a 45 degree angle. If you have a cutting board, you would see the diagnal lines.

Cool...what kind of effect does cutting on the bias give you? What situations do you typically do this for?

It provides a different sort of drape.

Erica,
How do you scan the picture of Lucky magazine onto your site???

Elleabelle, that's it... I just scan it and treat it like a regular .jpeg image file.

Thanks Filicudi,
but I think I'll just wait until they go on sale. I'm not really fond of taping 48 sheets of paper together and then tracing. LOL
