I always thought, "Oh, what's the big deal?" and then I showed up at a wedding wearing the same thing as another woman there. I wanted to be like the stepsisters in Cinderella where they wreck the makeshift ballgown. I was really surprised by how irritated I was! Suffice it to say, I'm making my own dress for the next wedding.

Exactly...a little like 3 women, in addition to the First Lady, showing up at the Holiday Dinner party at the White House in the same red Oscar de la Renta dress....horrors.

Have to agree that I would want to look better.... whats-her-face from CSI Miami looks better than the sistah from Everybody Hates Chris.. who looks well knackered! (that's tired in UK speak) Love the dress though.

THE PERFECT DRESS
Jennifer's wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement -- not even her parents' nasty divorce. Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be the best dressed mother-of-the-bride ever!
A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father's new young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother! Jennifer asked her stepmom to exchange it, but she refused. "Absolutely not. I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I'm wearing it," she replied.
Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, "Never mind sweetheart. I'll get another dress. After all, it's your special day."
A few days later, they went shopping and did find another gorgeous dress. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, "Aren't you going to return the other dress? You really don't have another occasion where you could wear it."
Her mother just smiled and replied, "Of course I do, dear. I'm wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding."
This has already happened to me at my Junior prom. Completely ruins your night.

Wow thats bad to have someone at the same place wearing the same outfit as you!!I would feel bad it they looked better in than me!!!
I hope I would just have the grace to say "great, we are two people with fab style" and laugh about it....it's only fashion after all....You can't do anything about it, so why not make the most of it?

When we go to the marine corps ball my husband cannot understand why it matters if someone else is wearing the same dress. well, that's because you and the other military people are wearing the same uniform. you wouldn't understand 
Oooh, same dress, same event is not cute. At all.
But Tichina rocked it better. Hair and all.
I feel sorry for the poor celebrity. Especially when they are featured in the magazine "Who wore it best?" and the other celebrity won.
Or the society woman who has spent many thousands for couture and then show up for the charity event and sees their dress on someone else.
Fortunately, as sewers we know we don't have to worry about seeing duplicates of our creations.
