I like your moniker on the collar. Did you embroider it, Erica?

Gravatar This is beautiful. I'm envious of your collar. This is the part I always have trouble getting right. I'm pretty good at the fancy plackets, though. I love your personalised label, too.

Gravatar looks great. what a coincidence too - I just ordered Coffin's book this morning. Finally.

Gravatar It looks great!!! Love the mods you made.

Gravatar Getting that book tomorrow!

Gravatar That is really nice!!!

Gravatar That, my friend. Is a VERY good looking shirt. Very.

Gravatar What can I say? It's absolutely beautiful - as is all of your work!

Gravatar You are so good at what you do!

Love the collar stand, is this the beginning of your line

Gravatar Beautiful shirt! I truly enjoy all those WIP pictures. I like the idea for personalized collar stand.

Gravatar That's one awesome shirt. Great details.

Gravatar Gorgeous shirt!

Gravatar I've been lurking on your site for quite a while now. I found it by way of CreoleinDC. I have to tell you I am so impressed with your work. I recently enrolled at a Fashion Institute to learn to sew. I have a couple of questions for you. How long have you been sewing? How long did it take for you to get this good? Why don't you start your own line? Okay, I'll stop now.

Gravatar Beautiful shirt, Erica!

Gravatar Everyone needs tailored shirts. Yours is wonderful. I have the Shirtmaking book, but I haven't really used it yet. Maybe it's time to take another look at it.

Gravatar Very nice fit!! Reminds me of Brooks Brothers shirts that I just luv!

Gravatar Just a great shirt. I have been thinking about David Page Coffin's book for..well, we won't discuss how long, but I certain will get it now. Your embroidering your name on the collar stand is just a great touch; when I used to work in NYC for Equitable Life, the really successful managers used to have their initials embroidered on the cuffs of their shirts - the really clever guys used to have them done in a slightly darker thread than the shirt color itself so that it was much harder to see - but we all knew it was there!!!

Gravatar Absolutely fantastic! I love it.

Gravatar Erica, You are a constant source of inspiration. Your work is fantastic and the speed at which you produce your art is truly amazing. You should be very proud of yourself.

Gravatar The quality of your finished garmets always amaze me! I am still in the "sewing in a straight line" practice process but I pray that my future projects turn out AT LEAST half as great as yours!

Gravatar Hi Bridgette!
Answers...

How long have you been sewing? Since 8th grade Home Ec. Class.

How long did it take for you to get this good? Thanks for thinking that I am. I read a lot and try to emulate high-end RTW that I can no longer afford since I "retired".

Why don't you start your own line? $$$$$$$$$$$

Gravatar That's beautiful, Erica.

Gravatar I love your shirt and I will definitely be looking into that book.

Gravatar That turned out so "smart". Love it. Cute added details. This is on my to do list. I'm so glad yours turned out so well, and it was pretty easy sewing.

Gravatar I love the flat felled seams! Your work is constantly inspiring me to take my skills to the next level. Thank you for that!

Gravatar It's just a gorgeous shirt, Erica! Your work is outstanding. Could you tell me where you found the 100% cotton pincord? All our Hancock's carries is the one that is about 75% poly -- ick. Thanks!

Gravatar Nedra,
My Hancock had both. Here is the kind that I bought. Be warned, it is 45" wide. http://www.hancockfabrics.com/ sh...keyword=pincord

Gravatar Fantastic work, Erica you never fail to amaze me.

Gravatar I appreciate your prompt reply & the link, Erica. Snapped some of it up right away -- thanks again!

Gravatar Very nice shirt, will add the book to my collection

Gravatar Flawless! Your skills never cease to amaze me!

I have this book and I love it (A must have in my opinion)!

Gravatar Fabulous shirt, so professional, what more can I say that hasn't been said already!

Gravatar Thanks for answering me so quickly. Your work is amazing!

Gravatar Beatiful JOB!!I love that fabric also!!

Gravatar I love the shirt and it only tells me that you do not have to pay a great deal of money for a shirt that you can make as well.

Gravatar Beautiful and so inspiring, as always with your work Erica. Your blog is at the top of my favorites to read everyday and I'm always so impressed at your skills and sense of style.
I almost choked on my coffee when I saw your shirt. Except for the collar, it is a tween sister of a Cacharel shirt I had 15 years ago when I was living in Paris. I wore it to death, really, I wore it a lot and for years. The Cacharel shirt had a little claudine collar (on a tiny collar stand) and smaller cuffs.
Thanks for sharing your fabulous work with us.

Gravatar I tried to leave a comment yesterday and your haloscan wouldn't let me! I didnt do anything to it so I don't understand why it was mean to me!

The shirt is really kewl Erica! Will you make more? And will you attempt to make them for your husband?

Gravatar Erica this is fabulous! I have just recently purchased the David Coffin book but had not read it (until last night). So I am all enthused to have a go.

Gravatar Carolyn,
I most definitely plan to make more shirts. That's pretty much my uniform... a crisp shirt and jeans! I wanted to experiment on myself before I make shirts for Michael. He was impressed with the results so I'll be making him a couple soon.

Gravatar Beautiful shirt! I keep meaning to make one since my favorite part of sewing is working with shirt-weight cottons and flat felling each seam. So far I've made a number of historical garments but never gotten around to anything modern! I'm glad to hear that flat-felling princess seams isn't the impossible task that I thought it might be. Thanks for the detailed instructions, maybe I'll stop making excuses and actually sew a shirt I can wear on a normal day!

Gravatar I love it!

Gravatar Sharp sharp sharp!!! And you are just getting too skinny, share the joy, what are you doing??

Gravatar Fantastic, inspiring work.

Also, I'd like to say a huge thank you for taking the time to blog about this shirt -- I know it must take awhile to take all the photos, enter them into the computer, and type up a coherent commentary. It's a wonderful resource for all of us!

Gravatar Great job. It look's like something I could pick up at Nordstrom's.

Gravatar Beautiful work!

Gravatar Erica. Because this shirt is magnificent. I hope to see that coses your husband ..... I like a lot, have class with white collar and cuffs. Greetings, Paco

Gravatar Love the detailing and the personal touch.

Gravatar Love the shirt and the pattern.

Gravatar Gorgeous shirt! Fab-u-lous!

Gravatar gorgeous! Thanks for the book suggestion...I'm going to buy it!
