Gravatar It must be something in the air! I've been thinking about making a jacket, too, but it will be my first! I don't have the enthusiasm for this project yet, so it will probably be months before I actually do it. You're posts will go far to inspire me.

Gravatar I can't wait to see this jacket! I know, it will be fab just like everything else you do! I love this jacket and the one's I've seen. Hopefully your post will encourage me to do this one.....ONE DAY!

Gravatar I can't wait to see it. I acutally stumbled on some stunning fabric from Chanel ($60 P/Y!!!) last week. I was tempted to start my own version, but I'm not ready yet 0

Gravatar Also, the "Inside a designer jacket" (p82) from the Fall SewStylish is another reference. Although, I'm sure its the same article from Threads.

Gravatar Girl now that gave us a seek pick into what you are doing!!I will be stalking you until I see that jacket!!HAHAI know it is going to be fabulous!

Gravatar I am scared of you and Adrienne! Can a sister catch up on the basics first? LOL. I know it is going to be smashing!

Gravatar I loved reading about Chanel in Claire Schaffer's book. So many details to something that "looks" so undetailed.

I can't wait to read about your jacket. Thanks for sharing with us.

Gravatar threads #23 has an excellent article on chanel's couture techniques too. i think i have an old chanel label laying around here somewhere. if i can find it, do you want it?

Gravatar i absolutely love _couture sewing techniques_, such a fantastic book with great techniques. i especially love the history they give on the techniques and the houses and what "couture" really means.

can't wait to see the "coco bunker" jacket! =]

Gravatar I have actually have a couple of patterns for a Chanel-like jacket, but haven't found the boucle' or tweed fabric that makes me say WOW! yet. I do need a jacket that I can wear a pair of jeans or going to a concert. I was thinking about making one for the fall/winter and another for spring/summer. My jacket probably will be a basic, but think it's a great introduction of learning to place a lining in a jacket. I will be waiting to see your what fabulousness you have in store.

Gravatar That classic Chanel jacket will go with everything from jeans to a skirt. Good luck.

Gravatar I was going to mention that article! I'm excited to see your posts. I am very interested in the process of making couture fashion, though I am nowhere near ready to do it myself yet.

Gravatar I'm so amazed that you posted this today. This is exactly what I was going to post on today. I'm glad you're working on yours, maybe we can get the topic rolling again on PR. And I'm using alot of the same reference materials. I'd love to see where you are on yours, I'm at the muslin stage.

Gravatar This is going to be another amazing Erica project! Can't wait to see the pictures and hear about your journey.

Gravatar Erica, Adrienne, let's make this a sew along..whatcha say

Gravatar Ms B,
Check out the BeSewStylish blog for a review of a book by Daniele Bott entitled "Chanel: Collections & Creations." It sounds wonderful.

Gravatar Mimi, you have issues!!! lol I am so not ready for that!

Gravatar Wow, Erica, you are a true art-eeest! Your Blog and clothes are all visually stunning! Good luck on your jacket. I made one 8 years ago when I took a class at Atlanta Sewing Center, using an old OOP Burda pattern. The Boucle was reasonably priced, and then I splurged on 10 real Chanel buttons at $14 a piece! It still hangs in my closet, is beautiful, and I still wear it! Maybe it's time to make another? Hmmm... I'll be watching!

Gravatar Ohhhhhh, I'm so looking forward to this!!! GO Erica!!

Gravatar Can't wait to see your creation... maybe it will help me get back to sewing after my blouse debacle.

Gravatar Another one looking forward to this! I have the Vogue 8259, fabric, silk, trim but just haven't got around to starting!!

Gravatar Your jacket sounds like it is going to be lovely. Can't wait to see the finished product. I do love Claire Schaeffer's books and explanations on Vogue patterns.

Gravatar I feel left out. *sigh*

Gravatar I look forward to the updates on your progress with the Chanel project. What an adventure!!

Gravatar Thank you so much for posting the progress of your jacket! Reading it is like taking a great class. I am so excited to how it all comes together.

Btw, you really can sew like a fiend! It's amazing how you turn out so many polished projects every month! Do you have a room dedicated to your sewing? I'm trying to reorganize my lil' sewing area (and will try to document the progress at pancakesandhappiness.blogspot.com), and am curious as to how set yourself up — it must be a very efficient and organized space!

Gravatar I look forward to seeing your jacket.

Gravatar waiting patiently...Chanel is the HOTNESS!!!

Gravatar Looking forward to seeing your documented efforts. I'm sure it will be as spectacular as your other designs.

Gravatar I'll be eager to watch your progress. I'm sure you'll wear it well when it's done too!
