Gravatar Excellent synopsis Euro! With any luck this breakdown scenario you have envisioned will come upon us gradually. As you say humans are adaptable and it is hard for many to imagine the possibilities even tho movies such as The Road Warrior have given us a version of the future. What was so terrible about lifestyles of two hundred years ago anyway?
Ireland is an example of what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket. Unsustainable population growth was enabled by the introduction of the potato here in the 1600's. A cheap and abundant (like fuel today) resource gave rise to two centuries of uninhibited growth until the resource disappeared. Half the people either died or fled. Today Ireland is the only country in the world that has a smaller population than it did in 1840.
This time around there will be no where to flee.

Gravatar Hi Euro! Let's hope new sources of fuel are developed. We already have the technology to move into using new technology but as you know, as long as billions are being made, there isn't a good enough reason yet.

This is probably your best post so far and I'll give it some linkage in an up coming article!

Gravatar Scary Poop Batman!

)

Peace*

Gravatar Euro Yank, another well-researched piece you wrote here. Readers such as I can see the flow of what has happened, what shall happen next, and what we are going to do about it. We have seen a glimpse in history when oil crisis struck a part of the world. Thus, when this go on a bigger scale, we who know can imagine what the scenario will be like. Thank you for enlightening us, potentially the awareness will encourage us to contribute what we each can. Superb post, more please...
