Gravatar Illegal Immigrants? What is that? Who? Let's open up our history or herstory. When our great grandparents first walk on earth, there were no lines as in boundaries or territories. Lines do exists along rivers and coasts or contours of mountain and valleys. So natural. Now, look at the world map. Observe in total, and you see the nearest to an exactness of squares and rectangles, lines of parameters of powers representing states and countries. Akin to a piece of paper depicting a map, and some tribal leaders start throwing coins to a landing so much so to attain a dominant control over several or a piece of land. I much prefer huwmen brotherhood, sisterhood, citizens of the world, on earth migration, a borderless globe, sharing abundance for all, enjoying global peace, order, and harmony.

Gravatar Zubli Zainordin - You spoke to the title of the post. It would be nice if you addressed the specific points made and the videos. I appreciate your comment, but lets get down to specifics. Your idealism is well and good but face reality man and address it!

Gravatar On June 29th the United States Senate killed the proposed comprehensive immigration legislation, ending chances for President George W. Bush to pass his immigration reform plan--a centerpiece of the president's domestic agenda. Immigration reform supporters garnered just 46 of the 60 votes needed to conclude debate and proceed to final passage. Sixty senators, including 37 of Bush's fellow Republicans, voted against it. Most senators said they had no plans to try to overhaul immigration law before the 2008 presidential election, so it is unlikely that any major immigration bill will become law until 2009. The biggest obstacle was to convince conservatives that the path to citizenship for illegal aliens is not Amnesty. The bill's bitter end has a deeper meaning, as it demonstrated that conservative Americans’ vision for US immigration reform should not include any type of amnesty or legalization for undocumented workers.

"This vote effectively kills comprehensive immigration legislation in the 110th Congress" - said Democratic Representative Zoe Lofgren, head of a House Judiciary subcommittee on immigration.

The measure, the biggest rewrite of U.S. immigration law since 1986, would offer 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants a path to citizenship while tightening the border with Mexico and creating a guest-worker program to help employers fill low-paying jobs.

President Bush, who had lobbied Republican senators to support the legislation, acknowledged defeat, saying that - "Congress's failure to act on it is a disappointment." The Bush administration is still interested in finding the solution to the problem of illegal immigration, said Michael Chertoff, Bush's homeland security secretary who helped draft the legislation.

Gravatar OK I will try to make this more personal...
I don;t really think that anything can or will be done about illegal immigration as it will always be.
I, personally, think that people who want to come to this country need to do it the same way immigrants did in the 1900's. You come, you learn our language you take an oath and you become an American.
You do not immigrate to America, wave the Flag of whatever country you came from, and speak your native language outside of your own home.
If you come here to live then you conform to us not the other way around.
This Euroyank is my true thoughts on this issue

Gravatar America has no immigration policy, it is just a joke of all nations, so to support its posturing it needs Weapons of Mass Destruction!

America which way did you go? Who is one second? What is on First?

Oh, you mean WTF..

Gravatar Euro, the vast amount of documentation you have accumulated is staggering! Well done, you are doing a terrific job!
Human migration is a natural occurence and has been since the first one looked at the horizon and dreamed of what might be there. As the mobility of man has increased over the millenia and more and more wandered, groups of like minded individuals banded together to settle and established borders.
The European Union today is allowing free movement within it's member states and overcame some of the very concerns documented here on this topic. I have to agree with Zubli. As the struggle for diminishing natural resources approaches the panic stage we are all going to have to share. Just as our mothers taught us as toddlers.
Conspiracies of the so called Illuminati, globalism, and a corporate take over of the world are all doomed to failure on the grander scale. The real issue at stake here is what kind of world do we want in a future with only minimal resources?
What we consider wealth today is mostly on paper and very destructable. On a basic level all we really need is food, clothing, shelter, (and a broadband connection!), and even these basic needs commodities will be attempted to be controlled by somebody. Greed, along with adventurism is also an innate human quality. One world, one government, why not? If we know it's coming (the end of abundant natural resources), and it is coming, we are intelligent enough to prepare the way and create a future in which we can all thrive. Provided of course any of us survive the Resources Armageddon.
What you are doing here Euro Yank is tremendous, all the research you have collected is doing us a great service, great work!
