I received a shipment of assorted coral bells at the end of last week. I need to get them in the garden but I'm afraid we still have one or more frosts to go. They are perennials but I'm afraid that they might not survive if they aren't established.
Also bought an indoor seed starter kit and put in a whole bunch of delphinium, hollyhock, and lupines. Maybe doing something like that in your home would get you in the mood?

The peas and spinach are overdue to go in, but damn if I can get up any enthusiasm until it WARMS UP. That's what gets ME going--that first 70-something degree day, even it it doesn't last. I do have a couple of tiny, struggling hyacinths, but they're more discouraging than encouraging...maybe I should feed them?
Keep up the workout--it'll improve your spirits in general.

TONY: ALL you need are a couple of 70 degree days like WE are having, and I hope you'll reborn like I do right now. On the other thing: THANKS for a hilarious post.... genes, prisons, laundries, spring-cleaning, YOU have cheered this old cripple up once again! I'm going to get up and get out. Thanks!

We just got three inches of snow. Gardening is out for awhile, but cooking (and eating) is something I always enjoy. Your wrist is all better now?

These family things are where I regress to a 12 year old, praying I'm adopted so I don't have those genes. Where are my real parents and when are they coming to get me?! Then I start drinking...

I'm sure the Niece sorely appreciates your sacrifice.
Cowbell: The niece is a peach. What kind of uncle would I be if I didn't offer a little support?
