Gravatar Sometimes these "community" things can be at trial. But don't let them spoil the pleasure you get from the time spent working and enjoying your garden. I miss mine and selfishly live vicarously through your photos and posting about yours.

Gravatar Are you dissing "my" tulips?

(Just kidding, I haven't had any tulips, cut flowers or bulbs for years. I'm not too fond of the look of them. I hope they don't take my passport away!)

Gravatar Too bad the powers-that-be in the garden society are such dicks. You know, maybe they forget that the peasants own actual pitchforks! I'm just sayin'.....

Gravatar You should plant something really aggressive like mint out of spite. hehe.

Gravatar Hah! I was just wondering when we'd get the first garden post of the year from you. Like willym, I enjoy your garden vicariously--all I have are scraggly, quail-pecked vegetables. And this Spring is shaping up to be a repeat of last year--gray, windy and everlastingly cold--bah.

Sorry to hear that some of your fellow gardeners are such turds. It's their loss! (Can you sneak into their plots and sow a ton of dandelions or thistles?)

Gravatar I, too, like the garden posts! I made it out into the yard to enjoy yesterday's nice weather, too. The grape hyacinths are well on their way and the daffodils have just broken ground. I think I planted 250 and 50, respectively, just last fall alone.

I get them from Breck's online in "Super Saks" minus $25 promo for orders over $50 so I keep the costs down if I shop smart. The cheaper bulbs never seem to get it up for me!

Regarding your fellow gardeners, I suppose it is like anywhere else. Friendly people are the exception rather than the rule. I think I would have given the bitchy gardener a hearty "Fuck YOU" and went about my business.

Gravatar I wish I had an answer for the "snobs" in the space. I'm not sure I would recover my garden energy either.... I know arrogance can ruin any venture we're in. A "street of dreams" (Mansions) was built 3/4 mile from us and you KNOW when it's THESE people walking by (designer clothes, dogs, mits, etc)..they really have an attitude. I kind of resent the arrogance when they come by our place. Luckily, the rest of us have some fun at their expense.... BUT THE GARDEN inspiration......HOPEFULLY as warmth comes along and NEW growth shows itself, you'll warm up too. I HOPE so.

Gravatar Sounds like there are some real bitches in the garden society. I guess it's that way for any group, especially groups where you're showing something off. Like those bitches in the PTA toting Piper and Topher around in their Hummers. We all have our cross to bear. Personally, my take is of a more selfish nature, as I'm thinking this could result in some dishy blog posts with some flora-drama details. I for one, would love to hear more about last year's rose drama.

I loved the visual of you throwing yourself into a pit of angry cats.

I think I need to do more with my yard. I'll have to hire Male Offspring, as my shoulder is not shovel ready.

Gravatar I just found out last night at the owners' association meeting, that part - granted,a small part - of the budget goes to "garden maintenance".

The building has no garden.

Gravatar i keep reading about everyone planting all these beautiful flowers and im green with envy...by june they would all be wilted little lumps of finery from the heat here..even my beloved bluebonnets don't last past
the end of april..sigh*
but my veggies are kicking ass so far.

Gravatar I read this at the perfect time. We're expecting our first truly warm days this weekend and I hope to get some work done in the garden myself.

Last year was all about my sister's estate and my father but this year I hope to get some quality time with my little pretties.

Fortunately the only attitude I get is from Mark and that's calmed down greatly over the years.
