Linda, Wow I didn't know about Lou's murder! My regards to you and the family. I'm not one to use blogs and such, but in this case I make an exception. Your husband and the band were my favorite group of that era. Growing up in the BA (Oakland, Skyline, '78 ) I had plenty of opportunity to see them as often as I could. They were, as we said in the day, "the bomb"!
It's a shame Mike and Fel are not on good terms with the rest of the band. During their hey-day they were the BEST. I often still say they had the best horns of the period!
Those of us who are still fans really appreciate your efforts with the site! Brings back fond memories of when music was music and "bands" had multi-talented musicians, not just so-called singers!

Peace and blessings,
I just heard of Brother McCall's murder. Just shows how busy we get and are not informed about the Important things in life.
My husband and I listens to the CD that was recorded live in San Francisco (1996)on our road trips between New Orleans and Atlanta.
I especially loved Brother McCall's drumming and this CD is great. It is
like we were at the concert.
This lead me to the web to do research on Con Funk Shun and to look up the lyrics. I found Con Funk Shu's official site and the sad news about Brother McCall's murder.
If it wasn't for his and the bands great performances, I would not have know of the unfortuate news.
But please be rest assured that he still lives through his recordings.
Also, I wish I had known about the fund raising cruise (May 200 that orginated from New Orleans, my home town. I would have join you guys.
God Bless you!
