Jason Kenney "gets it". It's clear from this, and from his legendary smackdown letter on that Awan law student character.
I wish he were my MP. Maybe I wish he were PM... hard to say.

Ezra, you have your facts wrong again. The complaint against Zesty Food Services et al is not under the B.C. analog of section 13 of the CHRA. It is under the analog of section 5 of the CHRA. Or, as the official BC HRT describes it:
"Ms. Pardy alleges that she was discriminated against in the provision of a service, in breach of s. 8 of the Human Rights Code, on the basis of her sex and sexual orientation."
Section 8 of the BC HRC is the provision that prohibits a restaurant from being allowed to refuse to serve people based on their race, sex, sexual orientation, etc. It also prohibits a restaurant from treating customers differently (like with slower or more rude service) because of their race, sex, sexual orientation, etc.
The fact that Guy Earle's response to the women is typical of how he and other comics respond to hecklers (thus there was nothing different about how they were treated) and the fact that Zesty's has a track record of not being discriminatory (by regularly hosting a show by the Laff Riot Girls) should be enough for the complaint not to be upheld.

I was there.
It was funny. I bought the T-shirt. I drank the whiskey. I networked with the other bloggers there.

Sounds like you have a job to defend. Either that, or your the most naive person online this side of moon bat land. The proce4ss is the punishment! He was guilty in there eyes the minute this was excepted as a case. Guilty until proven guilty. Until recently a 100 % conviction rate with 14 tribes of these Marxists that all can here this case. It makes double jeopardy look like real Justice.
This is the penance portion he has to pay as they bankrupt him first with legal fee's while the girls pay nothing. I say girls because real Women don't act like spoiled princesses.
No he is already marked its only his punishment that’s in doubt, after thousands in legal fee's. Guys like you just don’t get it. This is an abuse of the State, not a court. A place of religious absolutist secular humanist judgment of ones thoughts or words, even jokes being striped from us by ideologues protecting there pure ideology in collusion with Jihadism. Its called law fare.
Fire them all, than convict them all.

Along the line of comedians and social commentary - I just watched "Team America World Police" for the umpteenth time tonight. For those that haven't seen it, this little speech by the main character sums up how the world works - perfectly (go to about 1 minute in):

It made me wonder what the Southpark guys would do to lampoon the HRC's, because surely they would. If they resided in Canada, they'd have been charged about 100 thousand times by now with "hate" crimes, no doubt. Man we need these guys in Canada right now! No one could lampoon these politically correct marxists better, I am sure.

One other comment - anyone see the movie "Get Smart" yet? One comment in the movie made me laugh out loud:
There's one scene where a KAOS agent is saying how sad it was going to be to lose all the movie stars after they blew up Los Angeles. Siegfried (played by Terrence Stamp) responds, "Yes, what will we do without their razor-sharp political advice?"

Mr. Earle should videotape his hearing and prepare lots of juicy material for it. Fellow comics should aid him and turn the who hearing into one long comedy farcical routine. Costumes are a must!
Tyrannical powers despise three things, 1. The Press's freedom to dig out the truth about the powers. 2. The Church's holy freedom to tell the truth to the powers. 3. The Comic's freedom to laugh at the absurdity of the powers.
Laugh at them Guy ... get everyone else to laugh at them. For $5000 and some absurd attempt to apologize, you could not buy an international stage like that. Mock the bastards and make us laugh ... we'll send you money ... women will want to have your babies ... some guy will name his kid "Guy" or Earle ... or maybe some guy named Earle will want to have your baby. Ooops ... was that a homophobic ... sssooorrry ...
Let the mocking begin ... Youtube.com and the Internet await!

Re "providing a service": Since when is responding to hecklers "providing a service"? Although I'm sure Pardy et al got "served", in today's vernacular.
Re "dissident comedy": The goal of the Marxists here as everywhere else is to eliminate dissent.

Don Uthole - great idea!
To de-legitimize the HRCs, mock them. And the comedians are the master of lampoon. Mock them during the trial. Mock them after the trial.
Mock them until they drop their heads in shame and disappear from people's lives.
Fire. Them. All.
Terminate Section 13.

"I hope that the 40 comedians who participated go forth and add a few jokes about human rights commissions to their schtick"
There's enough inanity there for a whole routine. Personally I think human rights jokes and PC jokes should totally replace Newfie jokes in Canada. The ad hoc HRC commissioners and their batpoop mad cult followers make Newfies look like Rhodes scholars.

I caught the show. I guess these guys are going to have to change their brand of humour if they're going to lampoon the HRCs.
Like I said yesterday, I really dislike the stand-up comedy of today. It's raunchy, it's tasteless, it uses a very limited vocabulary having to do with bodily functions involving males and females, it's not, IMHO, funny.
But, no one should be coming to stand-up comedy, heckling the Guy doing all the work, and then complain to the HRC that they were being "discriminated against." Anyone heckling the stand-up guy is going to get it in the jugular. That's stand-up comedy, and everyone knows it.
Everyone was friendly at the Benefit, but I'm not sure Mr. Earle and his buddies, among them lesbian comedians, fully understand what he's in for. I kind of got the feeling they think this is a bit of a lark, a party, and that it's pretty funny.
Mr. Earle's soon going to find out that this is no joke, which means, I hope, that a whole lot more comedians, thespians, journalists, and plain concerned citizens, like me, get on the FIRE.THEM.ALL BANDWAGON.

Note the threat is from anonymous.
Gutless wonders like this are all over the internet.
Hope you find out who it is. Have you contacted Rogers about it? This is, I believe, a crime,it's a threat and it should be taken seriously.Authorities should be made aware of this.

from your update, the string "001217af1113" is a MAC address, likely the MAC address of the customers "CPE", or customer premise equipment.
This CPE MAC address is unique, is used by cable companies to control whether the cable modem has access to service, and is tied directly to a customer's account. Rogers could tell you exactly who the customer was using this information.

Dear Anonymous,
Please be advised that among Ezra's fans there are thugs (why, just ask Warren Kinsella if you doubt me) who are more than willing to take care of business that is conducted on the blind side of justice.
Please be reminded Anonymous, that NOBODY, including YOU is safe on the blind side of justice.
These people are hot heads with an axe to grind...guys with home made prison tatoos who have "made their bones" and who know how to do things with bones that would even baffle the likes of Grissom on CSI.
Guys who (if you were to do something foolish like harm Ezra) would hunt you to the end of the Earth, render you a blind cripple drooling on your shoe and being spoon fed by Bruno...and then they would goose your grieving mother.
Now to any of you armchair legal types who would deem what I just stated to be a "threat"...no it is not....it is a conditional promise in response to an offer of inditmidation. It is a refusal to be intimidated. It is an olive branch counter offer in a peace negotiation....discussion reconvenes in a court of law ....or on the blind side of justice...that is up to anonymous.

The comics were okay. Most confused free speech with shock, screaming the c-word, f-word and other profanities for cheap laughs. Granted some were young and this was an easy venue to get some experience for all of one minute - and a good cause. For my money, the best comic was a woman whose routine turned rape on it head, calling it "sexy." A taboo subject that was funny as hell. The Raymond Chan bit was courtesy of the MC; I concur with Kenney, very funny.
Guy Earle was the biggest disappointment of the night. In fact, he was down-right depressing, telling the audience that stand-up comedians are more apt to commit suicide than any other "profession," after dentists. I hope this hearing doesn't drive him to it... he's got more than 60 bucks from me and my wife to fight this fight.
