I Appreciate Your Comments. They Make Me Feel Special.

Gravatar Lots of options in Seattle. Best vista is still to take the monorail to the old world's fair park and ride up the Space Needle. Paul Allen's rock and roll museum (designed by Frank Geary) is there as well. The MoA within easy reach of Pike's place market (home of the flying fish) has a great exhibit of DaVinci owned by Bill Gates.

Tons of great restaurants essentially anywhere you toss a stone and you can eat well. The UW area has a fair number of decent night spots.

Take a short commuter train trip to Tacoma and the Museum of Glass has a huge display of Dale Chihuly as well as a rotating display for visiting artists.

Gravatar Wow, thank you so much! You pretty much just outlined my entire trip . I know for sure I'll spend half-a-day in the University District alone, since one of my big draws to Seattle is the U-W. Thanks again!

Gravatar That couch-surfing thing seems, I dunno, fun/exciting/scary as shit.

Good luck with the trips

Gravatar I've been a bad blogger/blog reader but I opened up my feeds folder today and read this post. Wow! That seems like such an exciting thing to do (couchsurfing). I'm definitely one for spontaneity and adventure. Then going to Vancouver as well...color me jealous! As with the first comment I was going to suggest the same things. I had a friend that lived in Lacy, WA. Flew out to visit her with a friend for a few days in 01. Since we both went to high school together her family was living in WA at the time of our visit so we did a lot of family things together. We only spent a couple days in the actual city of Seattle and packed in all of our sightseeing adventures. Pikes Place and the Space Needle are a must...if only to say you've done the official touristy things of Seattle. The views, the city, the people are all amazing. I've always wanted to go back on my own and do my own adventures. Good luck on the couchsurfing and you'll have to keep us updated as to how that goes. Sounds like you are going to have a blast!
