This was inevitable, though I'm surprised they have managed to do it so soon. "O brave new world..."
I am not quite ready to be horrified yet. People have made people since there were people; they just had more fun doing it, and more random results, than these geneticists will have. More to the point, people have been doing "genetic experiments" (selective breeding) on animals and plants for a long, long time, and only occasionally have the results been as ugly as a Pekingese or an English bulldog. 
Yes, there is potential for abuse, but it is not inevitable. I do hope that any humans resulting from the process are not discriminated against. (Oh, who am I kidding... with the likes of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh in the world, of course they will be discriminated against.)
Hmmm... I wish we were a little more together as a species before this technology became available to us.
