The funny thing is, if it does break into the Top 100, it'll be a short-lived visit.
And yes, I gave in to the hype and picked it up out of morbid curiousity and was quite underwhelmed. Which was tough considering my low expectations going in.

Some of ya'll need to grow up. If you met Raven face to face there's no way you'd say this stuff to him. The rape fantasy some of you discussed should warrant a felony arrest.
And to other creators chiming in on this trainwreck: I'm going to think twice about buying your books. If you spent more time creating instead of taking a jab at a man who is clearly down maybe you're books would sell better.

Mr Ellis and everyone here have really come down on people for making these sorts of comments.
I thought everyone was down on threads (off board, sure) joking about which members of a certain, nameless board they would like to rape at a certain, nameless comics convention.
Specificity goes along way to heighten the creep factor.
But, yeah, Raven's book may well be one of the ten worst comics ever. But the wife comments? Shit, I wouldn't make them, and I mocked the charity issue of his comic.

I was going to point out that the comment was deleted fairly swiftly and although I've only been here a few months, "Gabe" was a lone troll who wasn't a regular and had posted the worst thing I've ever seen.
The a couple of other trolls popped up and I'm wondering where from because they're not regulars or even semi-regulars. I attributed the first crack about Raven's wife to a lone nut but now there's a bunch of new faces mysteriously appearing.
Why do all you nuts hate the rampage?!

"I attributed the first crack about Raven's wife to a lone nut but now there's a bunch of new faces mysteriously appearing."
The same thing happened last time word got back to the Bendis board that Raven was the topic of a FBR discussion. Same timeline - right after the FBR entry is mentioned in the thread that's being mocked. The come over here and don't have to risk losing their Bendis Board account so they'e free to heap on the abuse. Last time it was also comments that involved his wife or marital situation or something along those lines. Warren Ellis being so quick to turn it into an anti-FBR thing probably gave these losers a quick thrill, I'd think. Has to be hilarious from their point of view...

I wasn't going to contribute to this thread until I spotted someone who's really been getting on my nerves lately. So...
Warren Ellis: Honestly... in your own way you're as bad as John Byrne. "FBR is going away." Is it completely unthinkable to you that people - and by that I mean intelligent, well-spoken people - might actually enjoy being here? And that they're balanced out by a bunch of drooling idiots with keyboards?
Personally, I'm pretty well fed-up with this whole "better than thou" attitude you've developed towards anyone who doesn't fit your criteria of fandom. You have "The Engine" for that, and I have nothing but praise for anyone that can put up with your hypocrisy (tell us again how much you hate superheroes, O Writer of JLA and Ultimate Galactus) and still manage to hold a conversation.
This "channeling Spider Jerusalem" routine of yours used to be charming. Then it became repetitive. Now it's irritating. Do yourself a favor and accept that total conformity to your ideal standards isn't going to happen. Quit harping on people having their fun and try to have some yourself.

Diana - Erm, did I read a different comment from Warren to you? The comment I read had him pointing out that a now deleted by Graeme, apparently very nasty, comment was probably one of the reasons Graeme was giving up the rampage.

That's really reaching. I visit the Bendis Board every now and then, and it isn't nearly as bad as this place. Hell, Ellis started a thread over there and got a friendly reaction. Look at what he got over here.
It seems like, more often than not, FBR ends being a place that deserves to be rampaged. (Fanboy Rampage-Rampage?) I'm sure it's no more than a few individuals that cause this (it always is), but that doesn't make it any less sad.

That's the same impression I had from Ellis' last post. I also didn't like the "having the comments remain in the public eye -- is just fucking disgusting" shot, since said comment was taken down fairly promptly (as soon as Graeme saw it, I'd wager) and it seems unfair to sling that at a webmaster until you're sure he's seen the offending post.
