Fannie's Room

Gravatar Rightwing nutjobs. The few and the loud.

Enjoy.

Gravatar I have noticed that Conservatives are far more likely than liberals to sue to overturn the Will of the People(TM).

Gravatar Sure, the judges don't have the last word in the world you and I live in. But to those who take on the noble goal of defending the sacred union of man and woman, clearly, anybody in a robe must rule over the rest. You, and I, without robes, are obviously sneaky, amoral types who have twisted the judiciary to our own will.

Gravatar Sidney,

How do you know that judges see us as "amoral" and "sneaky"?

Are you saying that you think we should do away with the judicial branch of government?

How do you feel about the Governor of California vetoing two bills that legalized same-sex marriage? Does that mean that one man "rules over the rest"?

Gravatar "All of this, of course, leads me to ask: Why have a judicial or legislative branch if their purposes are merely to rubber stamp the mentality of the mob?"

That was perfect.

Jose Solana et. al. are getting shriekily desperate at their blog. Their excuses, outcries, and complaints are just getting pathetic at this point. And they will only get worse and more desperate as the tide continues to shift. lol. TBSS, fellas.

Gravatar It's funny how silent that blog is until some new pro-"homosexualist" opinion comes out. Then you can pretty much cue the shrill whining.

Gravatar I would urge those who think the Judiciary have overstepped its bounds to read Federalist 78.

I was arguing yesterday with a wingnut extraordinaire who claims that judicial review was made up out "whole cloth" by John Marshall.

Hamilton is pretty damn clear that Judicial review is very much intended by our constitutions.

Gravatar Remember when the Supreme Court "elected" George W. Bush in 2000?

That was DEFINITELY not activist.

Gravatar Kudos for being willing to battle in their comments section after a classic "these judges must also support marrying dogs!"

I'm so anxious for a fresh anti- same-sex marriage talking point that I might just come up with one for them myself.

Gravatar I know.

Sadly, when I tried bringing up some of these points to the young seminarian all I got from him was extreme ignorance and resistance to understanding how our democracy works.

Then, of course, he promised to pray away the gay for me after assuming some "horrible wrong" made me gay. The level of misunderstanding about gay people is frightening.

Yet it continues to show how vital an independent judiciary not subject to the will of idiotic people is.
