Supreme Court justices often make an unespected right or left turn when they're finally nominated. Past history is often not an indication of how their votes will go as Supreme Court justices. I find this refreshing.
I value Jeff Gannon's opinion on Supreme Court nominees as much as I value Katie Holmes's opinion on the NBA draft.

Good point. Kennedy, reviled by the right, was a Reagan appointee. These guys don't have to worry about re-election, so they're less predictable, and that's nice.
And Gannon was just one of the first few names that came up on my Technorati search for links. I don't mean to endorse him in any way.
