Gravatar Now myself, I've decided that waiting wastes valuable drinking time. Go Webb!!!

Gravatar Shut up!

Gravatar Sorry, I thought I was the only one here.

Gravatar This better turn out better than 2002 -- by midnight, I was smashing beer bottles in the woods and bellowing nonsense. Good times.

Gravatar Oy, I don't even want to know what the elections will be. I'm in the midst of a move to downtown Seattle and behind in my homework after being pushed out of my old place. I need stress like an ulcer needs another ulcer. Yes, that makes sense! Shut up!

Gravatar Yay Menendez!

Gravatar Britney Spears filed for divorce today, and all you people can think of is politics.

Gravatar I'm really going to miss ol' Man-on-Dog Santorum.

Gravatar North Bay,

...love it.
I can't stop laughing.

Gravatar Anne Northrup, goodbye.

Gravatar Hopefully someone's keeping sharp objects away from K-Lo...

Gravatar Bush fires Rummy, appoints Joe and Rell appoints Republican.

Gravatar Aarrgh, this is not the greatest time for me to be totally unable to concentrate on anything but obsessively refreshing the CNN page.

How the hell is Pryce up 90-10 on Kilroy in Madison County? Those are insane numbers -- broken voting-machine numbers.

Anyway, Hostettler down, Northup down, Chocola down, every Democratic Senate seat held, looks good. I'll be wearing my Wofford '94 shirt tomorrow.

Gravatar every Democratic Senate seat held

Except Connecticut. MJD, I saw somewhere the claim that if they try that the CT legislature (two seats away from veto-proof Dem majorities going in) will pass a law mandating a special election for Senate vacancies, and the Republicans will get waxed. I pass this along for what it's worth, being unable to evaluate it myself.

Gravatar The Allen/Webb race, with 86.66% precincts reporting (1931131 votes counted), has a 1333 vote gap between the two candidates. Mother of God.

And I think the MO-Sen race is going to be even closer.

Gravatar CNN has wiped out the Pryce-Kilroy results that were freaking me out.

And looks like the Green candidate may re-elect Allen! Go Greens!

Gravatar Man-on-dog conceding live on C-SPAN! Don't let the door hit ya!

Gravatar (And being classy about it.)

Gravatar I retract my earlier libel of the Greens. Sorry.

(Where is everybody? I can't even buy no whiskey here!)

Gravatar I know Hitchens thinks its cause is over-rated, but allow me to be the first to wonder if the younger generation will ever know what "Rick Santorum" is. The substance, that is -- not the man....

Gravatar Was on the subway, but things are looking promising...

Gravatar Ramblin' Gamblin' Bill Bennet is claiming that this doesn't reflect any discontent toward Bush...

Gravatar Macaca. Shit. What the fuck is wrong with my home state?

Gravatar Macaca. Shit. What the fuck is wrong with my home state?

Gravatar Shit. 93.66% of districts reporting, and Webb needs 55.9% of the (dwindling) uncounted votes to pull even. I'm doubtful.

Gravatar From Unfogged comments: CNN exit poll has 56% of Virginians saying Allen respects minorities. Uh...

So much so that he thinks up inventive slurs...look away, look away, look away dixieland...

D, have you heard any news on how much Palin is going to win by, or if Benson is going to make it close? (That would be cool if she pulled it out somehow, my mom held fund raisers for her. She seems pretty together. Much too sharp for an AK elected official...)

Gravatar Yeah, looks over in VA. And I'm surprsing they haven't called Tennessee yet...

Gravatar Just curious as to how the FBI investigation will affect VA, if at all. There's going to be a recount for sure, right?

Gravatar you know what would suck? If the dems won the Senate, but by only one seat (including the Vermonster independents), so that Lieberman held all the power and could fuck them over even more effectively than he did when all he had was the power to whine, cajole and piously call for civility.

Gravatar Per CNN website the districts with a lot of precincts to be counted are breaking decisively for Webb (like 70%+).

Gravatar Webb's cut the lead down to less than 12000, but with so few uncounted votes, he still needs 55.3% of the remaining ballots to win.

Gravatar Jesus. CNN asshole:

"ISn't this a real defeat for liberal democrats, since the Democrats winning are moderates?"

Gravatar Pooh, I hope Palin loses -- but I'm not optimistic. She's an idiot. Doesn't believe in dinosaurs, doesn't believe in abortion rights for rape and incest victims. She makes most of our legislature look like Nobel laureates, though.

No chance at all for Benson to win, sadly. This place sucks.

Gravatar I say recount in VA.

Dems doing pretty decent in the House, looks like. Totally random upset brewing in NH-01.

Gravatar Well, that looks better. Also, that Green asshole in VA has upwards of 25,000 votes now...

Gravatar Make that 56.5%. Sigh...

Gravatar Looks like the mistress-chocker is also going down in PA.

Gravatar If I hear one more GOP shill try to cast anything less than a total tsunami as "bad for the Democrats"...

In other news, my own election predictions are turning out to be 100% correct.
http:// whatisthewar.blogspot.com...prediction.html

Gravatar This place sucks.

Tell me about it. Did you feel the earthquake right as Santorum was losing? That was eerie and odd, but awesome.

Pallin is going to win because of people like my ex who don't know any better ("there's no difference between her and Knowles...") and just want to vote for a woman.

Gravatar Yeah, they're talking about Sherwood choking in several senses now...

Gravatar LeMew, the VA greens aren't real Greens.

Gravatar Looks also like good news on minimum wages all around and bad news, really bad on same-sex marraige initiatives. It's a bit of solace that bigotry didn't seem to work as (much) a wedge for the gop, but still pretty depressing that people remain such bigots. 60 fucking percent in Wisconsin?

Gravatar Odd--Fox has D+13, CNN +10

Gravatar I'm definitely watching Fox news now, I want to see Brit Hume spit the words out...

Gravatar The Corner is yapping at McCain for not mourning the loss of Santorum. Is this really the sort of garbage that conservatives care about?

Gravatar DJW - you got to vote on the most important issue of the day - lap dancing.

Gravatar Pooh--fair enough.

Gravatar Bill Kristol says it looks like +30

Gravatar Some early good news on SD

Gravatar Dude, what is that weird graphic behind Tom Brokaw on MSNBC? Is he broadcasting from the stage at an Allman Brothers concert?

Gravatar And if things start going sour, you'd better be packing whiskey.

Just to be safe, I've been drinking malt liquor (Olde English 800) since the returns started coming in. Thankfully, tonight is turning out to be a bit more celebratory than 2004.

Gravatar Shea-Porter beats Bradley in NH-01! Did anyone have that on their board?

Gravatar Y'all making me feel my lack of Tv reception's worth it - missing project runway in exchange for not watching these clowns seems like a fair trade.

Gravatar Whoa, Allen's lead down to 13000, half of what it just was.

Gravatar Will Bush be able to work with a woman who isn't in love with him?

Gravatar This is one of those nights I wish my television were still alive.

Gravatar VA: Webb will now need 58.4% of the remaining uncounted votes to pull even with Allen. Unless those 3.3% of remaining districts are Democratic strongholds, I think Allen's got it in the bag.

Gravatar This is all CNN map but it looks like the remaining districts in VA are Dem (with 2 exceptions)

Gravatar And it looks like Fox is the first to announce that the terrorists... er, Democrats take the the House.

Gravatar pretty inteesting

GOP, Dems Hammer Away at Familiar Message in Campaign's Final Hours

----

Gravatar Whoa! Gap is down to 7700 votes. Alas, only 63300 votes remain uncounted. Webb will need 56% of the remaining votes to win.

Gravatar "Jesus. CNN asshole:

'ISn't this a real defeat for liberal democrats, since the Democrats winning are moderates?'"

I'd almost have thought you were watching the MSNBC assholes. We're going to be hearing this shit for a long time to come.

But enough of that. You know what happiness is? Happiness is no longer having to give a fuck who Dennis Hastert is. Goodbye, you corn-fed tool. You were never even a third-rate Dick Armey, let alone a third-rate Newt Gingrich. Dickhead.

(Does that count as playing nice?)

Gravatar KPatrick, why must you be so uncivil and partisan? You're making Ann Althouse cry.

VA-Sen, improbably, keeps tightening. 97.42% precincts reporting, 58,800 uncounted ballots, gap of 4722. Webb needs 54% of the uncounted votes to win. Not over yet...

Gravatar FMguru, MSNBC says it basically projects to a tie when they look at the remaining precincts.

Gravatar So we can look forward to a week or two of recounts, talk-radio blather, late-arriving overseas ballots, the discovery of "missing" absentee ballots, and tinfoil conspiracy theorizing, eh? Ah, democracy - still better then all the alternatives.

Gravatar Whoa, Ken Mehlman's on CNN saying that in wartime the president's party generally loses seats. My BS detector is rigning off the wall right now. Is this true? It sure as hell is counterintuitive, even within the realm of the GOP's "this isn't unusual" meme.

(Little like Kevin Bacon's most famous line in ANIMAL HOUSE, innit? "remaaaaaaiiiinnnn calm... all is welllll..."

Gravatar At what point should we start to worry about the fact that McCaskill is down by 60000 votes?

Gravatar CNN calls for the good guys in SD

Gravatar I'm worried. But I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missour-ah!

Gravatar And I'll be damned==Webb takes the lead.

Gravatar I told you (well I looked at the map on CNN).

Gravatar http://sbe.vipnet.org/ still has an Allen lead at 97.67% of precincts reporting. It's only a 3163 vote difference, with 53121 votes still to be counted. Webb still needs 53% of the remaining votes.

Gravatar WEBB TAKES THE LEAD! (CNN)

Gravatar Or, um, what djw said.

Gravatar re: CNN and South Dakota- I don't wanna start the "rejection of fascist values" bandwagon thang (and, oh, I so do want to), but given the local level referendum/initiative results so far- mebbe, jes mebbe, Americans are waking up....

Gravatar Damn, Burns is getting beat like a drum in Montana. 17% of the vote in, and it's 57-41 Tester.

Also: Missouri, WTF? I vaguely recall the urban districts closing late and reporting late in previous elections.

Gravatar But Casey, it sure still looks like they don't like teh gays.

Gravatar NPR just noted that Ken Blackwell was hiring homeless guys yesterday to pass out literature for him. He paid them something like $60 a day.

Gravatar He paid them something like $60 a day.

Compassionate conservatism and the free market in action!

Gravatar MO Senate looking a touch better.

Gravatar Holy shit. Rod Grams -- former Minnesota Senator Rod Grams, the guy Dayton beat in 2000 -- is getting doubled up in MN-8. I haven't lived in Minnesota since 2002, so I had no idea he was running . . . but mercy mercy mercy.

Gravatar Could be seeing several recounts -- FL-13 CT-02 and PA-08 are ridiculously close, and Pryce and Schmidt in Ohio are pretty close too.

Gravatar CNN just said the Webb-Allen totals may have been inverted...

Gravatar Nice one, CNN. Pretty impressive "news" operation you have there. The official website ( http://sbe.virginiainteractive.o...e.org/ index.htm ) has shown a (shrinking) Allen lead all night. Right now Webb is 1798 votes down, with 17114 left to count (he'll need 55.2% of those to win).

Also, MO-Sen is tightening. 69.4% precincts and it's 49.9-46.7 for the R's. And I think the city votes late and reports late, so McCaskill should finish strong.

Gravatar More good news: Gay marriage ban is loosing in AZ, parental notification is loosing in CA.

Gravatar Fox news has McCaskill up by 14,000, 80% in.

Gravatar Bill Kristol: "If you had to bet right now, you'd have to bet on a democratic senate"

Gravatar My brother now informs me that Bob Erlich was hiring homeless guys from Pennsylvania to hand out campaign literature over the weekend. Awesome. Glad to see the Republicans acknowledging the poor in some way. Better than making hats out of their skin, I suppose.

Gravatar Erlich was running for governor in Maryland, I should point out.

Alaska's returns are coming in at last. Looks like the yodeling right wing nutjob is going to clean up in the governor's race. I repeat: This place sucks.

Gravatar Does this guy really yodel?

Gravatar lt-

One day at a time, one day at a time. Not that Lenin had the patience is a virtue thing down pat ("Hello? The revolution's been won by the Menshevikii? No one here to take your call...")- BUt- holy fucking shite- 12 years, I can wait two more for complete control of the Legislative branch...

BUT- on the other hand- BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!
http://www.wfaa.com/ sharedconten...s.15ed0564.html

In Dall-Ass, no less.

We gloats, precious; we gloats...

Gravatar Most. comments. ever.

Gravatar NSCC must feel silly about abandoning Burns now.

Gravatar Bob Erlich was hiring homeless guys from Pennsylvania to hand out campaign literature over the weekend.

Those would be the flyers advertising Ehrlich and Steele as Democrats. Enjoy your prosecution for fraud, loser.

They promised them three meals and they'd got two by the time they were handing out the flyers; one place I heard (this is totally unsubstantiated) that in a previous year the GOP campaign didn't pick the homeless people up for the third meal/ride back to PA.
