Yes, it is a five years mandate but if as they say it is true that the tax cut won't take place in 2009 we would have wasted a lot of time. This was after all one of the reasons why some people found the PN proposals very interesting and now they are just disappointing people. I could do with some of those new tax breaks for one thing. It is sad when I receive my pay slip to be honest...not only because of the low wage but also because of the amazing amount of tax I am paying.

But Gonzi is on record, during the electoral campaign, that these income tax reforms were to be entered into effect in this year's budget.

Keith, where is he on record saying that they will be included in the 2009 Estimates? All I read about it was in recent editions of MaltaStar and they are not sourcing the resource.

It doesn't matter. He said that he would do it and according to that article he doesn't seem to be willing to do it anymore. So the question is: Will he do it or not? And when? Because with all the credit crunch crisis, gas, food prices, etc. that stuff that he promised could come in handy!

I remember a front page headline declaring that Gonzi had said that he would revise tax bands in the very next budget. It wasn't in Maltastar

@Sarah
I've search and there's nothing of the sort. At least on the ones available electronically.
