Gravatar Not to nitpick, but you're kind of missing the most important part of that Journal article:

Union president John Garcia said firefighters who attended voted to support Madrid. Proxy votes from others who didn't attend would have swung the vote in favor of Wilson, but union board members at the meeting decided all firefighters weren't fully apprised of the proxy process.

Those board members decided to toss the proxy votes, Garcia said, so Madrid came out the winner.

Union board members decided to toss votes to make it appear Madrid won. Does that sound Democratic to you? If "all firefighters weren't fully apprised of the proxy procss," isn't that the board's responsibility.

Instead of throwing out the proxies shouldn't they have just educated their members and voted again?

Something is very fishy about this, and you know what they say? Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Gravatar I find it hillarious that a right wing Republican like Burgos is demanding that all votes be counted. Given his deep concern for democracy and the desire for all votes to be counted, there's no doubt in my mind that Burgos must have supported Gore in Bush v. Gore.

Insofar as both Gore and Wilson questionably lost their respective elections, do you agree with Gore and respect the institution's (U.S. Supreme Court) decision or do you agree with Wilson and stubbornly refuse to accept the result?

But, let's get to the misleading voters issue. Do you really believe that Wilson is justified in claiming the IAFF endorsement on television and mailers when the reality is, that the Union voted to support Patricia Madrid?

Gravatar Mario, you can read it that way, or perhaps you can look at it as the union deciding what votes were counted.

Also, we don't know all the details of the closed-door session. We don't know exactly why the proxy votes were thrown out.
