Gravatar 76 years old and facing an electorate that gave Richardson 69% and Bingaman 70%? I think Domenici might reconsider 2008, especially if the national Democratic swing stays viable.

Udall would easily have won NM-1. Chavez might have.

Gravatar Yeah, I don't know what to say about this. I read that the republican leadership asked him to stay, and it may be that he wants to. On the other hand, it may also be that he hasn't made up his mind, and doesn't want to give anyone any ideas about '08 just yet.

He's probably also looking at Wilson's numbers and shaking his head.

My $.02? I think Richardson could take him, if he wanted to.

Gravatar Ken, I think that Domenici is popular enough and enough of a New Mexico institution to win a statewide battle, even in this year's political climate (which can easily change).

If Domenici runs, he will win; no one viable from the Democratic party will try to take him down. It's just too tough.

Which is why I think that Richardson will not run, merciless. He has just too much to lose by running against Domenici.
