On the NLP, as far as I know it's a bit of a pseudoscience (although this doesn't preclude it from having useful metaphors)

a bit? I personally wouldn't give much scientific credence to ANY psychotherapies, especially NLP based. Psychology in general still seems very fashion conscious. Obviously, psychotherapy works for many people, but...
When I read this sort of stuff, I'm looking it at it much more like a book of tips and tricks that require an artistic skill to implement, not a science that will work even when blindfolded.

Here is my thought....it's no good to be oblivious to you readers , it's no good to be constantly worried about your readers. The answer might be to write not for your current audience but for intimate,endlessly empathic friends far away. No writer became great by talking to his critics, no writer became great by babbling away. For all I know this method might also be a segula for picking up women.Isn't that what NLP has come down to?
