Gravatar Mmmm... cute overload... blood sugar... rising... can't... sustain... grumpy... must... DANCE! TO! SILLY! MUSIC!

Gravatar I was up before five in the morning to get that dark picture on the first day of Spring-and now there is actual dirt showing down the driveway-
for those of you interested in such items, behind the truck you can see something wrapped in green-a 1950's Allis-Chalmers tractor, sitting at the side of the garden. Good snow crop this year.

Gravatar I laughed, and now I share:

Gravatar Funny! Thanks, Doug. The msm is really on the defensive lately, have you noticed? Maybe there will be some encouraging stories coming out of Iraq soon.

Gravatar le, I don't think it's cynical to believe that if there were any way possible to do so without losing face or admitting that George Bush was right, the Dems would be publicly cheering the advances in Iraq. But their hate has painted them into a corner, and they seem to be allergic to humble pie. Being humble at all is seen as a sign of weakness to be feared-ever see a Man driving the wrong way farther from his destination simply because he refuses to admit he's lost? A little humility (and a map) can get you there quicker.

Gravatar Here's a thought, le-first, I'm glad you still have time to stop by, with all that is going on.
Actors and movie people used to benefit from the studio system-each studio had their stars, directors, camera men etc. who all enjoyed lifetime employment. Newspapermen had constant work with the syndicates, TV News kept stables of reporters and producers for decades.
Studios no longer 'own' actors, Print isn't dead, but it's coughing really hard, and TV News has an overabundance of reporters and producers;even with the cable networks,it's too few jobs for too many workers.
So the reporters, in order to stick out and be noticed-and win one of those coveted slots-try to make a name for themselves by acting tough, searching for the scoop that will get them ahead, and make sure that they agree philosophically with the ones doing the hiring.
NBC's David Gregory snipes at the President's press secretary, has a hissy fit over Cheney's accidental shooting of a friend, and what did it get him? The opportunity to sit in for Matt Lauer on the Today program.
Just as the Democrats distanced themselves from Joe Lieberman after he visited Iraq and announced progress being made, any news reporter who crosses the line drawn in the newsroom and honestly reports positive news out of Iraq would be committing career suicide. There are too many others waiting for him or her to fail so that they can have that slot.
It must also rankle the rank and file news reporters who are hoping to be paid for what bloggers willingly do for free-deseminate the news. Without worrying about editorial prejudices, or getting ahead in the news business.
Have a good night, all.

I don't doubt that there are a few bloggers would would love to step into the news reporters shoes and get paid, and maybe that is even their goal, but you're right, for the most part bloggers are just ranklish! (I made up that word) Your comment made mucho sense, even at 12:17 am. Have a beautiful weekend if I don't talk with you before it's over.
