Obama's reaction? He's, well, concerned. Now that's tough talk. The real fear here is not what the lunatic can do to America, but what he can do to Seoul, S.Korea. 15 million people live there within range of the north's artillery which could kill tens of thousands. The correct response here is any action of that kind will result in utter destruction of Pyongyan, not we just want to be friends.
Let's see, we will extend the hand of friendship if you will unclench your fist. That was to Iran and that worked really well. They re-elected the Nazi-in-chief.
It's probably all academic anyway. The United States is rushing toward 3rd world status, but, hey, at least we'll be liked by most of the world despite having no influence whatever.
Please excuse me now. I have to go chew some nails. Nails for driving into wood, not fingernails.

Hi Allan-hope that you're having a good Summmer. Doesn't it feel sorta kinda like the only thing missing is a killer rabbit attacking the President's boat?
(For all you kids out there, this is a reference to one of President Carter's finest days as President, when he acted decisively and with great courage)-

My point is...President Obama is messing up big time, the world is laughing at his ineptness, and all the more he reminds me of Carter.
Carter, by the way, is now championing the cause of poor misunderstood "Hamas"-he's trying to get their name taken off the terrorist watch list.
There's no tool like an old tool.

Are you not watching or reading the news? There have been eight days of protests and assertions that the populace did not, in fact, re-elect the Islamic theocrat. Go to andrewsullivan.com and read a bit more.
There is perhaps another revolution in the works by the educated and the democratically-minded young people in Iran right now.

I'm sure that Allan has been paying attention, James. So have I-before going whole hog into cheering the 'revolution'...find out what is what.
Mousavi isn't all that different from Ahmadinejad. Cheering for Mousavi is like praising Mussolini because he wasn't Hitler.
The people are actually rebelling against the real power-the fascist "Mullahs" ruling Iran as a theocracy. Ahmadinejad is their puppet-Mousavi was once their puppet.
What brought about this 'revolution'?
The answer is right to the left of Iran: Iraqi peoples living free in a true Democracy. Iranians see that and want that for themselves. Which is why Iran has been sending forces and terrorists into Iraq to unsettle the natal democracy.
I would love to see the Iranian people freed from the rule of the Mullahs. Iran was once the most 'western' of Middle Eastern countries- secular, with thriving cultures and industry.
Someday, when Christ returns and sets up His Kingdom, all the world will be ruled from Jerusalem. That is the revolution I am waiting for. Mighty cool!

Perhaps we could send NK a whole lot of New England style clam chowder and an equal quantity of Manhattan style clam chowder. The level of their debate would surely be raised as they argue over which is best.

I'm the rare person who doesn't touch fish or shellfish, so I have never had clam chowdah-though I've made it by the gallon.
North Korea will be a wonderful place again once the people are freed from Communism/nutball Kim J. I.
I wish President Obama weren't such a weak Carter. ah well.

Debbie is a bit more riled up than I am,but she has a good reason: she has been a watchperson on the wall, keeping an eye out for Islamic terrorism. She's been paying attention, and warning of Iran for years. Even if you don't agree with her, at least read:

Oh, Doug. Seattle has the best clam chowder on the West Coast. I have heard New Englanders compare Ivar's New England style clam chowder favorably to that which they could get back in Maine.
Ivar's is, or was (I haven't been there in over 20 years) the best seafood restaurant on the Seattle waterfront. My wife and I went there often in the late 60's and always left satisfied. They made the greatest Red Snapper stuffed with crab meat I've ever tasted.
The restaurant sat on pilings over the water of Elliot Bay and right next door was the mooring house for the fireboats. There was a full service restaurant inside and, if you wanted only clam chowder, a street service window with limited outside seating.
One evening my wife and I were dining there and suddenly the entire building rocked from side to side as though an earthquake was taking place. Not to worry, it was just the fireboats bumping the pier a little harder than usual.
BTW, New England style is made with milk and is white, Manhattan style is made with tomato puree and is orange/red. In my opinion, NE style wins hands down. Trust the liberal New Yorkers to mess up a good thing.
