God's Love: Don't leave home without it!

Gravatar First and foremost, the rape of the private sector by the Dems continues and is getting worse. Those of you who got all huggermugger about President Bush vs civil rights are swallowing whole the idea that the Obama Administration has your best interests in mind.
What has he done to earn your trust?
(nothing)
Then why do you trust him?
I'm serious about applying critical thinking-it can help us gain perspective when hit with their flummery and camouflage.

Gravatar I forgot my own poll: the last best movie I've seen was "Mama Mia", which was a blast from start to fin.

Gravatar I'm trying to imagine Bush admitting in front of the international press that the USA is largely to blame for the current financial crisis. I think your exercise is a good and important one, so I am honestly trying to imagine it. It's always important to think critically, like you said, and I do my best to call out people on dishonest tactics regardless of whether I agree with them (for example, I though Religiulous was a manipulative and dishonest film, even though I did agree with its premise). So I'm really, honestly, and truly tryin to imagine Bush admitting that the US messed up. But I can't. I just can't see Bush honestly and openly admitting he, or the USA, could be wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not Obama's biggest fan. I disagree with a lot of what he's doing wrt the economy, and I disagree with him on many social issues as well. I was relieved when he won the election because it was either him or McCain, but if I'd had my druthers it would have been neither of them. But he has the strength of character to own up and take responsibility, and that counts for a lot.

Gravatar Hi Jake-I had a longer comment to answer yours, but Haloscan taketh away.
Don't tip over, but I agree:the United States did cause the financial mess, although I lay the blame more at the feet of the Dems than President Bush. The past two years that the Democrats have held Congress haven't been shining examples of leadership. President Bush and the Republicans didn't oppose the Dems as they should have, when they made it law that banks must give loans to people who couldn't pay them back. Promising to 'buy up' the bad paper through Freddie/Fannie led to the destruction of the financials.
I just finished watching "Quantum of Solace", which actually had a very interesting story about the interweavings of global financial good guys/bad guys. A bit cynical, but maybe cynicism helps.
