God's Love: Don't leave home without it!

Okay, I went to bed, but started reading in Isaiah, and I found a passage that struck me as pertinent.
Here God, speaking through Isaiah, is declaring His displeasure with Jerusalem and His people who's hearts were far away from Him.
Of course God isn't speaking of Washington D.C. in this verse, but some truths are universal:

4 Alas, sinful nation,
People weighed down with iniquity,
Offspring of evildoers,
Sons who act corruptly!
They have abandoned the LORD,
They have despised the Holy One of Israel,
They have turned away from Him.

21 How the faithful city has become a harlot,
She who was full of justice!
Righteousness once lodged in her,
But now murderers.
22 Your silver has become dross,
Your drink diluted with water.
23 Your rulers are rebels
And companions of thieves;
Everyone loves a bribe
And chases after rewards.
They do not defend the orphan,
Nor does the widow’s plea come before them.
Isaiah 1:4,21-23

Rebels, companion of thieves chasing after bribes-am I wrong, or doesn't this sound familiar?
Back to bed.

Before bed once more, a comment about the debate tonight, and the election:
I didn't see the debate, as I was working, but I heard/read good things about how Gov. Palin did.
Ultimately, God is in charge, and I honestly don't know which side He will put in power. I never thought I'd be cheering on a McCain candidacy-I'm cautiously optimistic that McCain/Palin will win in November.
Charles Krauthammer is a man I consider a very sharp, thoughtful observer of the political scene...and he has his doubts about McCain winning.
I just don't know. But that is where faith kicks in, when we don't know.
May God continue to have Mercy on our world.
