Fitzgold!!!

Arlen Specter just said
'After extensive hearings, it is apparent, FISA has been violated'

Oh man, cbl. I can't get the stream to load. What link are you using -- or are you lucky enough to have C-Span3?

Christy:

The stamp company requires a first and last name for Politics TV before we can check out.

Who to use?

Martha

Arlen Specter just said
'After extensive hearings, it is apparent, FISA has been violated'?
Well, ok then, let the articles of impeachment be drawn up, then. That was easy. Thanks, Arlen!

Martha -- just use Matt Stoller's name -- I'll make sure that doesn't cause a problem.

And yay, my stream finally worked for C-Span 3. Hoorah. Leahy sounds peeved.

Oh, they want a phone number too...

overnight postage is $33. Anyway we can pool orders? If somebody has a paypal account, I'd send funds.

ReddHedd | Homepage | 03.28.06 - 6:43 am | #

yes, we have C3 on Cable

Leahy just 'dismissed' today's panel as experts, but unfamiliar with the Pres. program 'as they all were on 2/28

and kept saying warrantless spying on countless Americans

Forgot to add - Specter poo-pooed the 45 day bs - 'requires judicial review'

Hey, after the rubber stamp thing, can we send a bunch of knee pads? I can just imagine the incredulous look on Congressional staffer's faces as they open box after box of Official Republican Congressional Kneepads, sent in from the hinterlands.

Hey Redd, can I suggest an alternate strategy for those of us who are pecuniarly challenged?

Can you publish a fax number tomorrow to which we can fax a copy of a rubber stamp?

I like the graphic used here, might be nice blown up to a 900 x 900 pixel size, parked right in the middle of a fax...

Heavily credentialed Judge Cornblum

thru 2000 oversaw application for 10K FISA Warrants - other 4 judges elected him Chief Spokesperson for today's hearing

Rayne -- I like that idea too. We'd need a blog site to park it, so others can download.

infoshaman -- they overnight all orders placed prior to 11 am -- so you don't have the pay the extra freight for overnighting. Just do regular shipping. :)

Just ordered mine.

Kornblum - Nevre been briefed on current program

will speak on 3 issues

Importance of FISA

2006 ? FISA Amendments ?

Question of Pres authority under FISA

Done! (I made up a phone number...)

Great idea Christy...can't wait to hear where they're going :)

Please ask for special counsel investigation into wiretaps

Al Gore suggested the following approach in his MLK-Day speech (which Christy excerpted from yesterday), which deems consideration:

A special counsel should immediately be appointed by the Attorney General to remedy the obvious conflict of interest that prevents him from investigating what many believe are serious violations of law by the President. We have had a fresh demonstration of how an independent investigation by a special counsel with integrity can rebuild confidence in our system of justice. Patrick Fitzgerald has, by all accounts, shown neither fear nor favor in pursuing allegations that the Executive Branch has violated other laws.

Republican as well as Democratic members of Congress should support the bipartisan call of the Liberty Coalition for the appointment of a special counsel to pursue the criminal issues raised by warrantless wiretapping of Americans by the President.

Second, new whistleblower protections should immediately be established for members of the Executive Branch who report evidence of wrongdoing, especially where it involves the abuse of Executive Branch authority in the sensitive areas of national security.

Third, both Houses of Congress should hold comprehensive, and not just superficial, hearings into these serious allegations of criminal behavior on the part of the President. And, they should follow the evidence wherever it leads.

Fourth, the extensive new powers requested by the Executive Branch in its proposal to extend and enlarge the Patriot Act should, under no circumstances be granted, unless and until there are adequate and enforceable safeguards to protect the Constitution and the rights of the American people against the kinds of abuses that have so recently been revealed.

Fifth, any telecommunications company that has provided the government with access to private information concerning the communications of Americans without a proper warrant should immediately cease and desist their complicity in this apparently illegal invasion of the privacy of American citizens.

Freedom of communication is an essential prerequisite for the restoration of the health of our democracy.

It is particularly important that the freedom of the Internet be protected against either the encroachment of government or the efforts at control by large media conglomerates. The future of our democracy depends on it.

Thanks.

1. They require q phone # for shipping address

2. Are we asking people to do 2nd day air UPS?

Here's the cspan3 link to listen in live:

http://www.c-span.org/watch/cspa...h/ cspan3_rm.asp

Done. I used the phone number for my Republican senator, Grassley. With any luck they will call and ask..."where whould you like your Rubber Stamp delivered?" Oh, well, I can dream.

OT - Cbear. Saw your response.

It is fair if you ask it of all politicians. I said that before.

I wouldn't agree with you on the question b/c I don't believe the premise. I don't think for a second that Chimpy went to war to "protect" Israel.

I also wouldn't buy into the seeming premise that American support of Israel is at the cause of mideast turmoil. That is too facile an answer, even with respect to Palestinean issues: they're all guilty is the better asnwer.

I won't be my usual presence till Friday. Maybe someday we can get a Middle East post and continue the discussion.

Susan from Iowa - If you couch the question as one directed towards all religious fundamentalists, i.e. Wingnuts, including Lieberman, then I have no problem with the question. I don't think it has much to do with why we're there or do what we do elsewhere, but it is not offensive to ask. It is only "wrong" to ask it of Lieberman alone b/c he is a Jew, and therefore, you know, secretly an agent of Israel.

punaise | 03.27.06 - 10:34 pm | #
I don't get it.

Done...made up a 202 area code phone number....good project.

Two more on their way to DC.

Great idea BTW

I just ordered mine - I am so special: I used Comic Sans as the font and made the text on 2 lines...
For a first and last name, I simply used: Politics & TV
my Congresslady's DC number was given for the phone#
total cost: $9.75, inc S&H

*F*U*N*

I'm working on a phone number. When I did this as a test run yesterday, I didn't think the phone number was required...oops.

Done. I did go off the reservation a bit and had mine made using Arial font rather than Times. A wee bit more expensive but MUCH purdier.

I hope there's a LOT of people willing to cough up a few bucks for this. I can't afford too much of this sort of thing but am willing to push it a bit for "the cause" (ie, the Constitution, Bill of Rights, liberty, etc, etc).

I plugged in John Arivosis as the name at PoliticsTV, and my home phone as the ship-to phone number. Christy, will this be okay?

What a fabulous idea! I like the kneepads idea, but it might be a bit too "rough" for some delicate hot-house flowers on the receiving end.

This is not only fun and funny, it's 100% patriotic. Hooray for us!

Hey, after the rubber stamp thing, can we send a bunch of knee pads? I can just imagine the incredulous look on Congressional staffer's faces as they open box after box of Official Republican Congressional Kneepads, sent in from the hinterlands.

I LIKE it. I may spring a bit more for some cheap-o knee pads myself if we can't get a blogtorrent going on this one.

Another stamp is on its way.

Knee pads! Sweet idea.

Good morning all.

Man, new Fitzy news, a judiciary hearing that may actually have some spine and credibility...what a great day!

Just wish I could get the feed.

OH Hell,

"The 4th Amendment is not a suicide pact"

One more stamp on the way...I hope. I forgot to add #500 to the address. Hopefully it'll get picked up with the rest of the stamps.

Great idea.

Hi. I just ordered one. Cost $8.25 plus $1.50 for USPS first class mail.

Couldn't we negotiate a discounted rate, because of the number being ordered?

That was fun. What's the media coverage strategy?

I always use 555-1212 when asked for phone number.

The cult will obviously know this
is going to happen (not to whom, but
they will know it will happen).
Have plans been made in case they
try something?
I don't want to know since that would
provide the cult with intelligence, but
I just want someone to think through
all the variables.
Thanks.

I ordered one.
Someone should call the companty and get them all sent at once.

Rich -- we're working on something to that effect. It was tough to get an idea of the number needed because we just had no idea how many people would participate. I think we'll have a better idea in the next few hours. The whole organizing of people across the broad span of the internet thing is a tough one -- but nothing prevents you guys from pooling together among friends and doing a group purchase, either, just fyi.

Four stamps on the way!

dont blow all your pin money on rubberstamps ... Ned could use some turkee too

Another on its way. Instead of getting a discount rate (because there's no telling how many will be ordered), ask for a 15% (or whatever--I'm crap at negotiation) credit, on our orders, to be applied to yet more stamps. Hell, ask for a 'buy 10, get 5 free' promo!

Perhaps the kneepads should be reserved for members of the Fourth Estate. A golden kneepads award for the most shameless, kowtowing, and reguritative moment by whatever whoring shill.

The FDL Golden Kneepads Award.

If we have them, can I be on the dais?

-GSD

Just ordered. I got second day UPS.

I think you guys will have to wait a few days to make sure they have all aggregated at your place.

Another stamp on the way.

GSD I like that idea. Kneepads for the corporate media, rubber stamps for Congress.

Bloomer -- we're going to see how this goes. We've built in some time around the action we have planned, to allow for shipping issues and such. I can't wait to tell you guys what comes next. ;-)

Brilliant.
Ordering now.
Buh-Bye Andy-boy.

i sent 2 because the shipping is the same for 2 as it is for 1.... saved $1.50 that way.

i also used John Aravosis's name and my phone number for the "ship to" address.

great idea! thanks for organizing this!

WTF? "The 4th Amendment is not a suicide pact"?

Well, it's not freakin' OPTIONAL, either.

Bless Feingold for his chutzpah getting in the word illegal while explaining that he has to go to the WH cause Bush wants to hear about their trip to Iraq-- and dammit why doesn't he blow W. off and tell him to reschedule his dern meeting. Perhaps the WH deliberately did this because it does not Feingold to get the mike at this hearing-- might be covered by the press. Specter pulled a nutty--hee.

GSD | 03.28.06 - 7:20 am

I've been proposing the

'Golden Mynah'

it's not as fun as knee pads, but more likely to circulate as meme

i thought this was beautiful. heavy, but still- a way to think about iraq.

For the Corporate Controlled Media I downloaded some images of yellow keyboards to symbolize their yellow journalism online. The ones with only the keys being yellow really stand out. How fun it would be to get to a point where we could award real ones to our fave hacks.

New indictments to come from Fitzgerald? Truthout is reporting that they are in the pipeline:

http://www.truthout.org/docs_200...6/ 032806Z.shtml

Another one on its way - thanks for the great idea!

Sent a bigger stamp. You can add a graphic for a little more. So I added a big ole dollar sign front and center.

"Apple Canyon 2 | 03.28.06 - 5:39 am"
From two threads ago FWIW. I never heard of them trying to "discredit" Andy Card, but emptywheel has a lot about them trying to discredit Ari Fleisher, the old Press Secretary.

GSD I like that idea. Kneepads for the corporate media, rubber stamps for Congress.
Suzanne | Homepage | 03.28.06 - 7:24 am | #

I like the kneepads idea for reporters, especially the WH reporters who are participating in off-the-record confabs with the White House. The papers are also changing out reporters so that the new people have less 'history' with the administration. So, perhaps the paper management should get some kneepads, too.

This NSA hearing is great this morning. Maybe it's my nerdy wonky side, but I'm loving the crusty crankiness of all the judges. Takes me back to my practice days... *g*

truthout article -

sorry to hear Eckenrode is gone, I know Fitz doesn't 'need' him, but the few anecdotes coming out of the office indicate he was one of the good guys

and yeah, we ordered 2 stamps - wish we had thought of the $ as Pat did, here they come

'Golden Mynah'

"it's not as fun as knee pads, but more likely to circulate as meme
cbl | 03.28.06 - 7:27 am"

Jerry Lee Lewis and Charlie Chaplin each recieved the Golden Minor Award back in the day.

Also, has anyone else noticed that there is now an internecine shooting war among Francis "Usta be a Neo-conartist" Fukuyama and Charles "Blofeld" Krauthammer?

It is priceless. The only thing that makes the savagery of the the Republican Right wing any fun at all is when they decide to turn the long knives on one another.

The Republican implosion is continuing apace.

Now just a little smack on the ass from Pat Fitzgerald and this pony should be galloping at full speed by the end of the summer.

-GSD

"Arlen Specter just said
'After extensive hearings, it is apparent, FISA has been violated'
cbl | 03.28.06 - 6:40 am |"
Thanks cbl, imo, that is big.
When Feingold introduced his Censure resolution, Arlen stated rather proudly that he didn't know anything about the NSA spying, so he couldn't make a determination about whether it had violated FISA.

Perhaps some of our more ambitious FDL'ers can come into the ownership of those who have met privately with Mr. Stalin, err, Bush and we can send off the golden kneepads with much fanfare and hoopla!

-GSD

Emptywheel,
I left you a "thank you" at the bottom of the last thread.
Appreciated your help very much.

Rubber stamp....oh yeah...that will get them shaking

Bought one. I hope this turns out to be huge.

.

Great idea! Two more on the way!

so maybe we can call him "Andy DisCard" now ?

buying one rubber stamp for this maneuver, one for me.

Gonna have fun with that baby.

Maybe I should order two: One for the Citizen Action and one to start stamping my cash with...

Thanks muchly, Chicago Dyke. We thought this would be a fun way for everyone to vent out a little of that anger we've all been feeling lately -- and to channel it into a means to send a message at the same time. Bonus!

One more on the way. I told them that this was part of a group purchase and thanks for any discount given.

Hey, cranky Larry -- you don't like the idea, don't buy one.

Sent mine -- Gosh, what a great idea!

And maybe the group rate could be applied to getting them all sent at once (in case some orders come in late).

And the kneepads definitely should go to the CM -- we need a little list...

I never thought this stuff could be so much fun!

That was fun! And you can put unknown or private in the phone and it will accept it. I put unknown for politics T.V. and private for my home. Fantastic! I feel like I did something!

Another stamp sent^^, from PA!... erm... ordered from PA, sent from MI I guess^^

as a non lawyer, I can almost see these guy's logic on 'reasonableness' (no I don't agree w/ it) just saying it's almost linear - versus the hamfisted, convoluted crap spit out by Abu and Yoo - funny how those clowns went with a broad brush and these old farts actually address the law

It was really fun purchasing that stamp. I sent it to "To whom it may concern" at Politics TV. Hope Matt gets it. I am sure they will figure it out.

re warrantless spying....

i've spent several hours on the phone with my ISP (DSL and VOIP) to find out if they have collaborated with the NSA or any other intelligence agency to provide access to my communications or any of my information without a warrant.

bottom line - although they claim to take my privacy seriously, i can't seem to get a straight answer (the best so far is "not to my knowledge" by the press person and "we follow the law" but they won't tell me how they interpret the law).

i haven't given up yet... just thinking about how to proceed... any suggestions would be very welcome. i do think it might be useful to put pressure on our ISPs and TELCOs...

RH--I've seen a few people here ordering variants. For the next phase, is it important to stick to the uniform Times 14 pt font, or is a little freeform (esp. size) OK?

1 stamp on the way.

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be 1612 K St., _NW_, right?

It's useful to put the area of DC (NW, SW, NE, or SE) to be sure of a quick delivery.

Prof Foland -- we're trying to get everyone to stick as closely as possible to what we're asking. But if someone wants to pay for a larger stamp, that's not going to make an enormous difference.

Sean -- I'm not certain on that -- the address is as I got it from Politics TV. I'll check on that for everyone.

Another rubber stamp order in the pipeline from a delighted FDL devotee on the central California coast.

Hey all!

Rubber stamp on the way! It would be cool to get this meme out to some of the contested campaigns (Busby in Cunningham's district, Lamont, etc). I would love to see this phrase used as a talking point. Let us know if you need local letter to the editor writing campaigns to support this--this is the best of grassroots activism.

Stamp in the mail.

Leahy-- if evidence presented to you was obtained in a warrentless search, and a warrent was later sought, would you not have to consider that the info was obtained illegally? Judge: can't answer, it's a hypothetical. i came to testify about the proposed legislation so am not prepared to answer.

Oral Hatch up now hailing the commander in chief.

"we're trying to get everyone to stick as closely as possible to what we're asking."

::chuckle::
Conformity is not our strong suit.

Thanks for the details angie. Keep em coming. :-)

angie | 03.28.06 - 8:04 am | #
I almost choked at that exchange.

Prof. Foland - if you're still here
was hoping to catch you last night when the GAO Investigation story surface -general question

I address my question to you b/c hubby said they probably passed themselves off as researchers going from one facility to another - is that a common occurence ? I get the materials were not by themselves dangerous, they need a 'trigger', but even if hubby is correct, I don't get why there wasn't more scrutiny

Stamp sent. It's just regular delivery, so I hope it won't take too long.

Hatch says millions of amerikun lives could be at stake if the administration was not allowed to wiretap because evidence did not meet the FISA standards . Judge bucking him and Hatch is now massaging for an answer bringing up nuclear and great risk to the people. Judge-- well, the prez could act unilaterally as he is NOW.

Another one on the way.

Hatch has no soul any longer. There's just nothing there but a bunch of $$$.

why would we *not* want to use our names/numbers?
wouldn't that be sorta like signing a petition?

just wondering before i order..

Stamp on its way from behind the Orange Curtain out west. Wow! Small signs of creative revolution make my day!

I just received an phone call from the rubber stamp folks..they said that for future orders use the word SPRING as the promotion code for a 10% discount. all caps...those of us who have already ordered are out of luck..

Probably a dumb question, but I couldn't figure it out from the stamp site. This way the stamps don't have our names on them, isn't that right? Should we include our names, or at least our states, so that the recipients can see that we're real individual voters and that the stamps aren't just a mass purchase by some anonymous liberal outfit that doesn't actually vote?

I wouldn't put my name on the shipping address because I'm not going to be there to open the mail. I did put my name / address on billing of course, and it's my number.

Matt, you're free to call me if you like. :-)

Stamp sent.

I always wanted to shower my less than courageous Democratic representatives with these.

OK, that was a lot of fun. (cackle, cackle) I messed up, ordered two, one the wrong kind etc. etc. and had to call up their customer service to straighten stuff out, cause I'm really anxious that my rubber stamp should get there. They were nice. I asked her: So you been getting a lot of these orders? She said, "uh yeah, actually we have." She didn't know what was going on though.

Ok, my stamp is on it's way.

I didn't put a name of a person for it to be delivered to at Politics TV but before I realized that, the order had gone through and it is going to be sent to Politics TV but to my name- that's ok right? Matt Stoller and the folks there will see hundreds of boxes coming from the same place no matter whose name is on it. Hope I didn't screw that up :(.

Redd- you guys probably have this all worked out but when the stamps are delivered, will anybody from the press be tipped off so they can report on it and get it into the news? That would be awesome because it would PUBLICLY embarrass the GOPer the stamps are going to and because of it's originality, would probably get a lot of media attention (hopefully!).

Great idea guys!

? DiFi-- is a preznit bound by the rules and regs of FISA--
Judge 1-yes
Judge 2-yes
Judge3-yes, but by the same token unless there is an emergency like it happened in spring 1861-- lincoln suspended the writ of habeus corpus
Judge 4-yes, but I don't believe an act of congress can limit the prez under necessary and proper clause

DiFi-So FISA is advisory to the preznit

one judge says-- if he ignores it then he does so at his own peril.

Specter says he is bound to the law until it is trumped by his Constitutional authority.

Phredd- those spine key chains are awesome! They would be great to send in bulk either to democrats OR the mainstream media!

DONE. I added the international sign for "poison." To be sent regular mail. FUN!

Sent one! I used Tom DeLay's office number.

I love it... 3 more on the way!

Wow...uh are we getting real hearings?

ReddHedd | Homepage | 03.28.06 - 7:24 am |
Ah hah hah, you guys! This is fun though (cackle, cackle)!

When do we do the mass loofah mailing to Dildo Bill O'Reilly?

-GSD

4 stamps on way, one for each grandkid who now apparently owes $30,000 for this administration's nonsense. Please let us know if you need more. Great idea! Thanks.

Too funy and very inspired. I'm in. How funny would it be if this really took off for the fall campaigns.

So the judge is going to redefine calls that have a piece in the US to be international?

Durbin-- Congress wanted to limit the power of the preznit when FISA was passed.. Is there anyone who doesn't believe the preznit broke the law here-
J Keenan-- I don't know enough about the program except what i read in the press, can't answer.
J Baker-- I think FISA provided a balance. If they sit en banc-- everything should be ok.

Kneepads don't have to be the strap on your leg kind.

Here's a Froogle search result where you can get 6 custom printed kneepads for $3.23 with a one time set-up charge of $45.

http://froogle.google.com/froogl...gle& scoring=mrd

It seems to me the time is right for an activist drop-ship blog to automate ordering and delivery of rubber stamps, kneepads, and whatever could be next.

--

Christy,

I just ordered my stamp by phone (the company is in my state). When I told the sales rep which stamp I wanted, she said they had over 40 orders & asked what was going to be done with the stamps.

She did say that they would be going out tomorrow afternoon & are being shipped by US Mail. If you select priority, it will take 2-3 days.

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be 1612 K St., _NW_, right?

It's useful to put the area of DC (NW, SW, NE, or SE) to be sure of a quick delivery.

Googling for "PoliticsTV" and "1612" turns up this, which isn't their site but lists someone with a politicstv.com email address and a "1612 K Street NW" address, so I think NW is a safe bet. (It's the most likely quadrant for an office in any case.)

Great Idea! Two more one the way!
Love the Knee Pad idea. How about the Letters GWB embosed on each Pad!
How about sending a whole bunch to the

That could very well be the "Dildo Bill" tipping point. He is already extremely paranoid, he could end up with a Jessica Savitch moment, snapping onscreen.

Let's wait until he has another meltdown attack and then launch Operation Falafel Fox or Hommous for Himmler or something like that.

Betcha the Hill is already bracing for the reciepts of the old rubber stamps. Someone has to photoshop Tom Delay wielding the rubberstamp instead of the old musket in that NRA benefit photo-op.

'nother one on the way from jersey!! please let us know when this is being mass delivered. and WILL the media be given the heads up? can you imagine the furor... and the jokes?! lol

1 on the way ... standard mail.
Did not put NW for the address but assume by the time it shows up the whole DC USPS will know where it goes.

re: the name. if you put a dot in first name field an PoliticsTV in the last name field .. it'll be accepted.

Sent mine via USPS. Thanks for the SPRING discount to the person who mentioned it.

Sent one for each child, niece, and nephew.

The quality of government for the next generation depends on people doing good work NOW.

***

Another one ordered from red state TN.

Minor point: it would be nice to have the update at the top. By the time I scrolled down to find it, I had already placed the order and lost out on the 10% discount. You might also include with the initial instructions what to do about first name, last name, and phone. (I used PoliticsTV for first name, same for last name, same for company name, and I used my own phone number.)

The grammarian in me wanted to insert a hyphen ("Rubber-Stamp Republican Congress'), but that would have cost an additional $8 (!). So I went with your phrasing.

Also, looks like the Straight Talk Express is out of the "Pimp My Ride" shop and has been succesfully converted into the Crazy Train.

McCain set to speak at Liberty U.

Perhaps we should send CD's of Ozzy Osbournes' "Crazy Train" to Right-Wing Nut convert and spokes-asshole John McTaint.

I wish there was some way all of our orders could be bundled together, cause we all seem to be paying separate S&H.

5 more sent

Another one on the way - thanks to my busy morning, I was able to get in on the discount!

that was fun - we should do more of this kind of thing.

the correct zipcode will indicate the correct quadrant even better than the street address. don't sweat the NW...

Just had a vision of the poor folks at The Stamp Maker in a total panic as their orders list rockets into the stratosphere....hope they're not too, you know, RedState...they might not like the joke.

Mr. Halperin up now-- Congress can't legislate in the dark-- you don't know what the program is. It is not clear that your legislation will be effective. A full investigation of the program must be carried out. Yay-- tune in if you can.

John Casper | 03.28.06 - 8:39 am |

Glenn Greenwald was posting about another instance of Repub. "mischief" involving this case '

Senator's Kyl & Graham insertion of Congressional Record misrepresented to the Court as 'live debate', phony interruptions and everything

do these guys ever just play it straight ?

Two more stamps on the way. Great idea. Hope you have someone doing full court press PR on this.

Can we do crafts next?

go, stamp, go! another on its way...

new thread

new thread: "It's Official"

I added a Stop sign to mine.

I can see Bush proudly claiming the economy is ablaze as he points to the booming rubber stamp business at the end of this quarter.

*****************
Christy:

For some reason the stamp folks called me and said that if we hold off new orders for about an hour then there will be a 20% discount and they will all be put in one box per day via usps.

Please call them if this is not what should be done..
***************

Will not htese stamps get waylaid in the US mail system security which radiates and inspects everything going to the Hill?

Check it out.

Brilliant theatre! I ordered two just for the pleasure of it.

Kris says the Preznit violates the FISA Act !

I added a graphic: the dancer, because it looks like a poncey, elite rich guy.

3 on their way... Confess that I wasn't going to alter the stamp, but then couldn't resist -- 14pt Comic Sans, broken onto two lines... with a banana (on the lefthand side).

Also, got the 10% discount so... thanks!

I ordered a stamp. I just used PoliticsTV in the first and last name spaces and (oh well) my own telephone number.

**************************
Christy and all:

the stamp folks (Sandy I believe)again called..the 20% is set up..choose usps as shipment method..use SPRING (all caps) as promo code and all stamps will be sent one package per day to the address.
**************************

GSD | 03.28.06 - 8:59 am

AHAHAHAHAH!!! I still have a cut of Crazy Train overlaid with the Dean Scream...would be perfect for this purpose. (I love this cut, play it whenever I need a boost...)

Busby campaign is gaining speed!

http://www.dailykos.com/story/20...3/28/101327/ 309

**************************
and yet another phone call..the 20% is good till noon wed...again us usps as ship method..SPRING (all caps) as promo..
*************************

Ordered 5, got 20% discount.

Jim at 9:10 am -- they aren't going to the Hill. So they oughtn't get waylaid in the slightest. Any delivery after the initial mailing will be done by hand -- so radiation won't be a problem.

Based on a quick check of the thread comments, I see about 100 ordered so far. Anyone checking the count at the maker?

John Casper, 7:35
Thank you. It was my mistake, Emptywheel corrected it in the last thread.
So many names, so many crimes, it is hard to keep track. I have now started a timeline and hopefully will get the names right too. Again, thank you.

3 more on the way!

I think it would be a good idea to ask Matt Stoller to postpone the Congressional Office delivery until Thursday -- or maybe not. Thursday allows for the straggler stamps to arrive, but also allows more time for the Rubber Stamp Republicans to barricade their offices.

Getting the netwok TV cameras to show up is important, too -- is Wednesday or Thursday better for that?

Figuring out the best strateregy for these netroots guerrilla actions is hard work!

So is The Stamp Maker a BLUE Company, a normal company, or a bush lovin red company?

Just wondering?

cbl--be careful or you might get me started on my "dirty bomb" rant :)

In short, it is not inconceivable for researchers to cross a border (esp. w/ Canada) with some of these materials. The amount of paperwork involved is usually tremendous, which discourages actual researchers from ever wanting to do it. (I've carried nuclear measuring devices, without any materials before, across a border, and that was messy enough.)

Great idea...I'm having fun just thinking about the waves this could create.

Another stamp on the way.

Stamp on the way. Thanks, FDL, for organizing this.

and two more from NYC

One more stamp on the way - I hope this makes a big splash. Funny as heck.

Okies...10 stamps on their way via next day delivery.

Placed my order. Christy, thanks for organizing this.

Another one has just been ordered.

Mine sent. I look forward to the kneepad mailing, though there are so many potential targets.

Um - did anyone here stop to think that the Faxes for the members of the Judiciary Com might have been flooded yesterday over the subject of yesterday's debate? IMMIGRATION REFORM.

It's more than a little sad to see that FDL would take credit for flooding Judiciary's fax lines yesterday, given the scope of public outcry against the horrific republican immigration proposals.

Get a clue - if anyone flooded those fax lines it was the people who were concerned about the debate of the day - which was not Feingold's resolution.

One sent from NJ.

When do we send the pooper scoopers?

Desparate times call for extraordinary humor. Thanks for the opportunity.

'Nother stamp sent.

5 stamps overnighted. Besides my husband, Jane and Christy are the best thing that ever happened to me.

Can anybody send me a link to place an order? I can't find it.

Two more coming from Oregon. Kudos for the great idea.

Done

Had to order by phone because I kept getting error message, may have been due to anonymouse.

Order lady said there were about 200 ordered but I didn't ask if that was total or just phone orders or what.

She said 20% discount good until noon Wed. 10% there after.

I can now suddenly go directly to FDL w/o using annoyingmouse. Up to noon, not so. ????

Stamp sent. By the way the addition of a hyphen did not seem to cost me anything (Rubber-Stamp). Not sure why someone above had an additional charge.

I also think stamping your money with this phrase is an excellent idea. Certainly gets the idea into circulation as it were.

Thanks Jane and Redd, this is the site I check first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

LiberalRealist -- I was told specifically that the faxes from our efforts made a big dent yesterday. If I hadn't been told this expressly, I would not have mentioned it. Clearly the immigration issue was huge yesterday -- but the fact that the Constitution issue faxes also got broad notice made a distinct impression. Try not coming here and being an ass. We try to be very careful in what we report as being fact based.

2 more stamps on their way!

Pile one more from Washington state! Sent it priority mail. It would be great if the stamp company could tell us how many they made.

I've heard every letter received represents ten people, which seemed like a good statement. But ten was a bit pricey, even with the 20% discount. So I added five to the pile.

Zoya~

http://www.thestampmaker.com/pro...spx? StampType=3

sent one...it felt good to be part of this.I liked the idea of hundreds of boxes being delivered vs all in one box, tho.

2 more stamps on their way!

I took the liberty of editing Christy's article about the mass buy of the GOP Rubber Stamp so I could send it out as an email and spread the great idea to my friends and family. Here my email in case anyone else wants to copy and paste and spread the word...

Please forward!
**Another great idea from firedoglake**

Citizen Action Steps: Phase Two
By Christy Hardin Smith

Time for today’s Republican Congress wake-up call.

Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee has a hearing scheduled on the illegal NSA domestic spying without a warrant.  Friday is the hearing scheduled on Sen. Feingold’s censure resolution — so every bit of pressure is helpful on this.

But wait, there’s more.  We’re asking you to take the next step in citizen action with us.  And it is a doozy:  we’re asking you to purchase a rubber stamp and send it to a specified address — which we plan on delivering to a member of Congress.  (Since this will be a surprise for them, we’re not revealing to whom just yet.)  A huge thank you to Matt Stoller of MyDD for agreeing to be our patriot delivery person.

The stamp will say "Rubber Stamp Republican Congress."

Yep, that’s right.  We’re taking the citizen action to the next level.  Sean-Paul found a stamp manufacturer that will drop ship to our designated address — at Politics TV.  Once we have received a "critical mass" amount of rubber stamps, we’ll make the delivery.  And report back to everyone on how it went.

We thought it was time to shake things up a bit in Washington, D.C. — and this seemed like a good place to start.

The stamps normally cost $6.50 each (plus shipping) but firedoglake gets a 20% discount onorders placed before noon Wednesday, 3/29 (see "SPRING" instructions below).  We’d like to have these ordered no later than Wednesday, March 29th at 11:00 am ET (8:00 am PT).  We have some very fun plans for this — and we are hoping to send a message, so the more stamps we get, the more we get to deliver.

You can order your stamp from The Stamp Maker ...

http://www.thestampmaker.com/pro...spx? StampType=3

*Type in... Rubber Stamp Republican Congress

*Choose...TIMES 14 Font (the larger the font the higher the cost) ALL CAPS

*Press...Show me my stamp

*Press...Add to cart

*Press...No thanks for the ink pad

**For a 20% discount...Use the word SPRING as the promotion code.

**Put in any phone number and use regular shipping.

Then pay for your stamp and make sure to ship it to this address:

Matt Stoller

1612 K St.

phredd - 8:20 am
That spine keychain idea is great! And they're only two bucks.

J i O 8:36 am:
That's exactly what I meant when I suggested kneepads--the pad rather than the things for each individual knee.

One more one the way. Boy, this is fun! I can't wait to find out who the lucky recipient is.

Another one on its way.

Reddhead

It's hard to fathom that hundreds of thousands have been rallying on the immigration issue and many big activist groups put out calls for members to contact Senators in the Judicary, yet FDL's claim is the Feingold res flooded the lines.

Maybe FDL doesn't care about the immigration issue - but millions of americans do. Feingold's res is important but the public support has not come close to what is going on with the immigration issue.

To bad questioning this gets one labeled a wise ass.

Another stamp sent on its way! Wheeeeeee! TYVM for a super idea! Wish I'd thought of putting one of my MO GOP Congresscritters' phone number on my order though :-( Hmm, perhaps I should send ANOTHER one! Woo hoo!

Cheers from the soon to be BLUE (I hope) state of Missouri!

one more on the way from the great NW

This was really fun! With the discount, you can get three for less than $20.

I look forward to hearing about the impact.

I just sent my order to 'Shameful Representative' using Specter's phone #. I listed to the 'hearing' today (thanks KPFA radio). Despite his words Specter's actions are slimy - he is digging the dagger to Feingold.

Liberal Realist --

What gets you referred to as an "ass" is not your potentially legitimate point but your weirdly accusatory tone:

"It's more than a little sad to see that FDL would take credit for flooding Judiciary's fax lines yesterday. . . . Get a clue - if anyone flooded those fax lines it was the people who were concerned about the debate of the day - which was not Feingold's resolution."

Its a worthy assumption that the immigration issue flooded fax lines. But that's what it is: an assumption you fail to back up with any facts. You're certainly entitled to do it. But to whine about somebody else doing it is really bizarre.

You certainly lost me, which is too bad -- because for all I know you might have had a valid point about the immigration faxes.

LiberalRealist -- where did I say that FDL's faxes shut down the phone lines? At what point? I never said that -- you are making that assumption all on your own. What I said was:

"A huge thank you to everyone who hit the faxes yesterday. I am told that FAX machines were humming for all the Judiciary Committee members yesterday."

Where in any of that is a claim that (a) FDL was responsible for shutting down fax lines and (b) claiming all the credit? As for your assertion that we don't care about immigration issues, that is equally baseless as we covered the issue here:

http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/...la-and-phoenix/

If the wise ass shoe fits...

another one on the way. I should have read the comments before I ordered though. I put my phone number and Firedoglake for the name.

I hope there will be pictures of Phase II...I could use a good chuckle.

BTW: This felt much better than donating $20 to a campaign. I'll still donate to campaign's, but I'll look forward to more stuff like this. Who says Democracy has to be serious all the time, it can be fun too!!

I sent a stamp.

one on the way from Ellicott City, MD

Another order in from me in Los Angeles. Fabulous idea Redd - also faxed the Judiciary yesterday.

Five more stamps coming from the Great, not-so-red-anymore State of Kentucky!

I live close to this busines....They are overwhelmed!

BTW, they also thank all of you for your orders....keep em coming!

1 more on the way from the great state of Michigan.

I wonder if we can get a running total!

Another one on the way from the great state of Massachusetts!
Yes, it is fund to do something that has a sense of humor about it.

The more we can find ways to mock the horrible things they are doing to us, hopefully the more crazy it will make them—crazy enough to show all of their colors and let the people run their asses out of office.

Two stamps from us Giant Schnauzers {can't let the Poodles have all the fun).

First time at Firedoglake. First time at any blog. I am pissed off old dem. Sent some rubber stamps Great work keep it up.

Add on. Dying here in SC I have faxes ready to go. I wear out Lindsay Grahams phone. Hope this gets on CM Tv. Keep up good work.

brilliant! i just ordered 3. thanks to everyone who pulled this together!!

Sent!

I sent my 10.

;)

I sent one, too, and paid for next day. On the next campaign we should organize a bulk shipment. Cool idea...

Did mine. Paid for FedEx Next Day. Why the hell not? :)

Two more stamps on the way...

Teehee, this is fun. I shore wish I could see the looks on their faces when the stamps are delivered. Plans for a photo op?

Just sent mine.

Another one on the way from Michigan! Love the kneepad and pooper scooper ideas!

Another stamp for our Corrupted Congress. Thanx for the discount.

one on the way from Ellicott City, MD

Another one on the way. Thanks for organizing this.

One more form the Motorless City;

Sent mine. Small nitpick. My stamp was originally 11+ bucks. (not 6.50, like redd said) Did I order the wrong size, or something?

Probably. Oh well. I almost went for the Cartoon Animal Chicken on it, too, but I am on disability and don't have the disposable income to be so frivolously hilarious. ;-)

Sorry I am so late but I had to go to the gym, since I sat here in front of my computer all day yesterday, faxing the Judiciary committee.

2 more on their way from SF area. What fun -- I'm at home sick with a dreadful virus thing and this is the most fun I've had in 3 days.

Thank god for the Internets!

Now, as long as the Visa card is out, onto Ned Lamont's site...

Brilliant. This is the kind of thing I've been meaning to do for too long... I'm inspired.

Great Fun, a much needed release. Four more on the way from Reno.

Just ordered the stamp. God, I love this.

I don't know if I did it right. My stamp read:

Rubber Stamp Rep. Congress F**k U

A stamp from Nashville - here's hoping it lands right in the middle of Fristie's forehead, the bastard!

Another couple of stamps on the way...

ONE FROM A LONELY DEMOCRAT IN RED STATE/RED COUNTY FORSYTH CO,GA

:)
Hope this goes well...
Moesie

three more from texas.

One more stamp on its way. What a great way to spend 10 bucks.

Reddhead

Well, we'll see if FDL has the organizing capability that the latino's fighting the immigration issue have. So far the demonstartions on this have trumped the anti-war movement. That's actually pretty sad in my book. Makes me wonder why liberals can't get organized like this. Too much name-calling and bickering within the party maybe?

One stamp ordered and sent. Put down 111-111-1111 as a phone number. Hope that doesn't delay it.

You might want to consider giving info to Democracy Now!(www.democracynow.org) when you decide to deliver the stamps to the as yet unknown congress member.

Thanks for the protest idea.

It doesn't matter to me which Congressional member's the intended recipient. Just be sure to save some for Harry Reid and the rest of the spineless Democrats who left Russ Feingold swinging in the wind.

Just ordered mine. I'd love to know how many total were (will be) ordered and sent.

Someone has got to make footage of all this for us non-DC area folks. Maybe some tshirts too. Like: I donated a rubberstamp to the Republican rubberstamp congress and all I got was this lousy t-shrt or something. (Heh, heh, cackle, cackle.)

What fun. One on its way from Arlington.

One more sent - did not know exactly who to send it to - I'm sure they'll figure it out. ;)

LiberalRealist - We actully had protests like that before the war.

VAdem

The L.A. protest over the weekend was the quoted as the largest protest in L.A.'s history. I went to the large anti-war protests in L.A., pre-war and since although some were very large, none as large as the immigration protest Saturday.

Likewise no high school walk outs like this over the war. Point being, how do we get people motivated to protest enmasse as these folks have.

So what happened with the stamps?

I put 4/29 on my calendar for an anti-war march but no other details. Do you know anything about it? I can't remember! Also, I sent stamp Wed. a.m. what happened?

'FDL Golden Kneepads Awards'
Love the idea. How about different categories and everyone gets to vote - like the Oscars.

Referred here from CallingAllWingnuts and just wanted to let you know I've placed my stamp order! Now I'll be a regular here as I'll need to be checking back to see how this goes.

Great original idea, keep it up.

Crap - didn't see the dates, oh well.

U have impressive site!!!!!!!!!!!!! suicide by overdose of oxycodone coumadin alcohol zoloft online
