I still wonder at politicians who claim global warming is a fact but aren't rushing to put up levies around D.C.

If we accept, for argument's sake, that global warming is in fact science and enacted all of Kyoto tomorrow the effects that global warming predicts would continue for years, decades before improvement could be seen.

The melting of polar ice caps would put Washington, D.C. further below sea level than the 9th ward of New Orleans is now.

I am not aware of any plans to build levies around Washington to keep our nation's capitol dry.

I am convinced that politicians would work on that as a priority because they always think of themselves first.
