Even I admit that a 3" Magnum 12 gauge loud is overkill. Well. No, it IS. Pardon while I argue with myself here. This happens when you've seen targets take a .50 cal right in the breadbasket and shrug it off. Humans are the most unpredictable creatures on god's green earth but getting that out of the way a reduced recoil load is a damned good one as long as the usual caveats are adhered to. No 3 and a half inch shells in anything but a 3 and a half inch chamber, don't shoot hard cast slugs from a constricted bore, yadda yadda.
