Gravatar Interesting discussion. I am very aware when drafting releases that our clients' customers will be reading it online. It makes things more complicated true. But that's just how things work these days.

Yes. Releases now reach customers directly. However, I also take issue with big branded portals that are too lazy to apply a journalistic filter to what they post on their sites. I suspect it's a barter deal between these so-called news portals and the paid wire services.

Gravatar I guess the point you're making - and that I made in a preceding post here - is that press releases are obsolete. They're now consumer releases.

If you search for something in google news, raw press releases are included in the results.

Good or bad? Who knows.
