Yeah, but I think he could only do that film with a lot of trick photography and stand-ins and, I don't know, pulleys and levers and whatever. He's since said it doesn't really work.
Worse than women who date John Wayne Bobbitt, I think, are women interested in Paul Bernado (including, and most of all Karla Homolka). Twisted.

Uh, thanks but no thanks. She scares me enough without knowing anything about her. (plus I have too much reading to do already (sadly - exams are so near) then I'm going to try for The Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy which I'm told is quite good. But I'll keep yours in mind for the summer. 
Dan thinks the potty mouths at Virgin are making men look bad? That's ridiculous! I'm a man, and I had nothing to do with it, and I don't feel responsible in the least. It's not like every man on the planet collaborated on the idea y'know. Besides, didn't the guy at Virgin say it was a woman's idea? I'm sure she ran it by all the rest of you (women) first for approval though, right?

Thank you for that kind bit of recognition, especially in this issue -- it's one that particularly enrages me. Not that other stereotypes are any less heinous or repulsive, of course. The female examples you set down are equally nauseating, though I think we all take stupidity from our own gender a little more personally.
On that note, bfum: I do not feel responsible in the least for the tasteless design decisions of that airline. What I worry, though, is that when I walk down the street, a woman walking the other direction will look up, see me, and think to herself "Ah, there's another one of those stupid, sexist pigs." I'm not saying that women are predisposed to thinking this, but when the Virgin Airways kind of news item pops up, that thought becomes a little more likely, don't you think?

Gosh, I just feel so famous now. The *true* benefit of the Internet reveals itself: a dim feeling of elevation through recognition by someone I barely know who lives thousands of miles away from anywhere I've ever been.
And you know something? I think I'll just sit here and quietly enjoy my dim feeling of elevation.

Oh, good! I was hoping you wouldn't be annoyed. It's odd that that entry came across to bfum as something to accept responsibility and feel guilty for.
Rather, like Paris Hilton and that hideous photo shoot, when something presented by a major corporation is so sexist, as that is, it alters how the gender in general is perceived, not how they perceive themselves.
Most women I spoke to had an upset reaction to it, more than a few said, "Why do they hate us so much?" I only saw other female bloggers commenting on it - I couldn't find one male blogger denouncing it. This is when men's voices are needed. Virgin was speaking directly to men with this, and it was comforting to find that public male figures as well as private were offended by it. So I can now go back to talking about anal sex. Won't that be a relief!
Damn! I had a reply here that timed out (I got interrupted by a two-year old). The gist of it was this:
Match the offense with the offender. If you think all men look bad because of this, you're looking at the wrong men.
I'm not quite sure what you meant by "yellow-wiggle" either, but I'm tired of trying to defend the entire gender over this, and ready to move on.
