fabulous post, as usual. perfect thing to get me going this morning and do some good deeds.
I love SFSI. They are great. I have a current sexual partner with an STD of the skin-to-skin transmissable variety, and though I'm a former HIV educator, I didn't know jack shit about it. And at that point, I knew pretty darn little about PIV sex. The volunteer I spoke with was helpful, knowledgeable, non-judgmental, and didn't flinch at the "mostly a dyke wanting to fuck a guy with [STD]". The folks at SFSI, they rock.
Flea, your posts are absolutely wonderful. You had me nodding all the way through. You must consider writing for a magazine, this is the kind of stuff that belongs in Bitch. You should seriously consider submitting it.
I can't possibly comment on everything you wrote here except to ay amen sister.
and this: I am a feminist and I think you are too. To me, feminism is about women supporting each other in what we, as individuals, do with our lives. And that means even if we don't agree. I had a lesson in this very point at a wedding this past weekend in South Bend, IN. ::shudder::
Anyway, I've been in your store. I love it. You have always been awesome to me and my partners. But then again we are perverts who scour the city for fucked up shit.

On this one: yes, flea, I believe you are a feminist also, if it's worth anything to you. I love the stories on your blog and I love that I can go into your store and not feel scared. I love that you're educating people--I don't care if your're doing it for money or not, it still gets the word out.
On the next one: I've only been married a month and I already find "Gold" to be good advice. Tell your dad thanks.
Thanks for the plug! I didn't post that entry to guilt people into donating, but hey, we'll take anything we can get.
Just to be clear, SFSI isn't going anywhere. We will be there getting the information out with or without a toll-free number. It'll take more than this to kill us.
Now I'm dying to know which opinions of mine are the ones Flea strenuously disagrees with...
