I completely missed the points you make about the ALA & their banned & best lists, even though I did a post on it this morning. Checked my list of "banned books I've read", and 10 of 24 are by women.

Thanks for the link to Todd Levin's blog - I wasn't already jealous of all the people who are funnier and better writers than me, so I needed to add a little green to my morning.
I just got into a HUGE fight with my best friend of over 20 years over gun control! We both grew up in Chicago but I moved to the burbs to find an affordable house. For some reason she thinks she needs a gun to defend herself not from intruders but from the government!! Like owning a handgun will protect you from the FBI or IRS.
Did you know there's a bill in Congress to roll back the Washington DC gun laws? It's very strange. You would think the people in Congress would want to make DC safer, since they live there. If it gets repealed, I hope the people who voted for it meet some people toting guns - up close in an alley.

Valerie, I actually kind of understand the "protection from the government" angle. I'm kind of uncomfortable with the idea of arms only being doled out to the people in the reigning regime. I never used to be that way until the days of John Ashcroft, so he has himself to blame for my negative attitude.
I've been waiting to turn 18 too, BELIEVE me.

I so feel for the lady who cut the fart. That's a truly embarrassing situation. It's repugnant for you, and crushingly mortifying for her. Unless she wasn't embarrassed, which is just wrong.
She didn't look embarrassed, but who knows? I wasn't about to call her on it and find out.
