I agree--I love Terri, but you do get the feeling she's allowed to let the Beatles obsession run free. I'm in the car early enough in the day to get Lin Brehmer and Mary Dixon, so I get plenty of Green Day (I love it).
Lin's show is how I discovered Foxboro Hot Tubs, too.

Yeah, here's the thing with vitiligo: If you started out with brown skin and vitiligo was turning patches of skin white, you'd have two choices for not looking patchy. You could use brown makeup on the pigmentless patches, or you could somehow bleach the remaining brown skin. I suspect option #2 is far more invasive and expensive, plus it leaves people with the impression that you're disavowing your brownness.
I did read some criticism of the whole "MJ wanted to be white" thing that pointed out that (a) he had Brotherhood of Islam bodyguards (tres black), (b) he associated with Al Sharpton (tres black), and (c) his music wasn't exactly, you know, Pat Boone–white. But the skin thing definitely muddles that message. Did we ever see one educational photo of MJ showing vitiligo patches? I never did. Which is too bad (if he really did have vitiligo) for the people who have vitiligo and get stared at—a famous person with the same patches would've made the average person far more understanding of it.

Our bedtime routine used to be to read or tell a story, then lay down with the kids on the bed in the dark with a CD on. We tried to mix it up a little, but Rubber Soul and Revolver were by far the most popular with both kids. Something about music in the dark makes you listen harder, you hear the good stuff better.

I share your ambivalence about Michael Jackson. The man and his music seem only tangentially connected somehow.

his death has really had an effect on me. i've been thinking a lot about him, his music, his life, the spectacle/s surrounding it. honestly, i didn't give the trials a lot of thought at the time, because i just couldn't go there. i'm a good blocker.
but now, i could. and i just had this gut punch where i felt: he didn't do it. he didn't have the capacity. he was an 8 year old himself. he never left childhood. he had people who enabled some really weird behaviors and the whole concept of being stuck there (a crazy amount of money doesn't hurt).
the other possible option, which *is* a problem, but i still don't see as coming from any sort of sense of pedophilia, is that he did something like "played doctor" with them or something. which, if you're 8, is completely normal. unfortunately, if you're an 8 year old kid stuck in a 40 year old man's body is NOT completely normal and is completely illegal.
but, i just don't see that. i just see a completely wrecked person who couldn't get out of a place he never really got to in the first place.
unfortunately, i couldn't imagine explaining any of that (or even a completely opposite view of that) to my kids. thankfully, you're a rockin' mom and you seem to figure out the right thing to do.

I love WXRT except for the fact that it sounds EXACTLY the same as it did in 1989. They play a lot of "deep cut" things that nobody else plays, but the sense of discovery sort of wears off after they've played them in regular rotation for 20 years.

I only listen to Teri during Breakfast with the Beatles on Sunday, which is exactly what I want. My son's bedtime song has been Blackbird for years.
Jesus, old man Chrysler! Your kids crack me up!

This probably isn't the right place to ask this, but where did the link to the Honeysuckle shop go?
I can not find it via Google either - hoping it's still around so I can make a purchase!
