The Social Security zero fund date moved forward because the trustees are still predicting:
- extremely low(1.6%) productivity growth
- extremely low(lower than now seems to be occuring) immigration
- significantly lower mortality rates than they predicted a year ago
- lower workforce participation than predicted last year
Please explain how, if you believe these assumptions are true, this would in any way make a scheme of privatization or private stock market investment look better
and of course there's this graph, showing better overall finances for the program between this year's estimate and last year's:

Umm. OK. Guess you really found out my opinion about social security in that post. I was just pointing out news.
If you want an opinion from me on Social Security, here's one:
Phase it out.

Wow, let me bask in your brilliance...oh gee, I'm done
So your plan is that all us young folks should continue paying into Social Security so we can pay the promised benefits to the older generations, and then we'll just get nothing out of it ourselves?
And then of course when we're old and many of us have no money to live on, we'll just let our senior citizens live on the streets, eat in soup kitchens, etc?
Or was your plan something even more asinine than that?

Us young folks pay into quite a few programs from which we will never see anything. They're called entitlements - a nicer, gentler term than welfare. But you're being disingenuous. Let's get rid of all these entitlement programs. Then us young folks wouldn't be paying into any blackhole programs. Sound good? It's the logical extension of your ploy. Try again.
Fortunately, you've figured out that you will, indeed, grow old. You have more than enough time to plan for this event. All of us youngin's do. But since you're so adamant about voicing your opinion, why not do some actual good with it and inform all the people you believe are idiots that they too will grow old.
As for the overall post by Ryan. I do not understand how you cannot think a woman being put to death in a manner not legally fitting for a dog is news. Agreed we are that there are other news stories. Multitasking, however, is a virtue. And if you've been able to find these other news-worthy stories, then I am positive others have as well.
As for being cut and dry, complex, multi-layered and all that jazz, if you take a glance at the case you'd realize it's really rather simple. We don't know anything for sure - a woman is being put to death in ignorance. It's a shot in the dark; unfortunately, someone is actually going to die.
