hmm, interesting...what are your thoughts on Biden? I know a lot of Republicans think he is just another Northeastern liberal, but I know some others who really like him.
I think you might be underestimating McCain a bit, too. He and Guiliani scare me the most, primarily because I kind of like them, so I'm sure other Dems feel the same way. Romney could also be a contender, though a lot of people differ greatly between their local and national political views. In 2000, I would have said Newt was way too wacky, but compared to the current administration, he at least deserves credit for his leadership ability and innovative ideas, as much as I dislike them. He's an intelligent man (I unforrtunatly haven't got to read his Civil War books yet)and would at the very least be command some respect as a candidate.
As far as the Dems go, being from Delaware I have to go with Biden initially (though if Obama was in, I might reconsider) - however, I think it will be an interesting crap shoot, just like the other side. Both parties are going to be doing some serious soul-searching during the primaries, and the outcome will have serious long-term implications for the party system as it currently exists.
