Apparently there was an earlier Colburn amendment as well, aimed at wasteful spending within the defense department. This measure received greater support, but ultimately fell a well. However, it is interesting to note that the vote did not fall neatly along party lines. The first link is the Amendment reported on in the blog, from the Senate page itself – the second is the amendment I mentioned, voted upon October 6th.
